About Me

Im a 24 Year old Mexican-American from the South Texas city of Brownsville who has been solo backpacking on and off since September 2022. My last trip was 6 months in Latin America traveling from Mexico to Costa Rica by bus, then through Colombia, the Amazon and Brazil for the rest of my trip! After a few months back home preparing, I’m back to traveling again, this time starting in Europe to meet all the friends I made on my last trip and ending my trip in East Asia. I’m always looking to make new friends and get to know new places and eat good food to connect with the local culture of the place I’m visiting!

Now I am planning on visiting Japan for 2 weeks after spending the last 3 months in South East Asia. I would love to have a deeper connection to the places that I will visit in Japan instead of just a surface level, overly touristic experience. Meeting people through Couchsurfing who live in Japan, whether for a few months or their whole lives is something that interests me! I love to hear other people’s life stories, share a meal over conversation and play a good card game or two. If possible, exploring the area with my host is always welcome!

I always enjoy picking up new phrases and words in a new language and sharing any knowledge that you might find interesting!

I just started using Couchsurfing during my time in Europe at the end of 2023. I have found it one of the best decisions I’ve ever made while traveling. it has opened me up to a completely new side of the backpacking community that is all about sharing, and not about profit or money. It has also completely changed my concept of travel. It’s shows the best side of what it means to be human: connecting with others through food, music, and humor, even if language fails us at times.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to meet local people and make lasting friends and connections! i prefer the personal aspect much more than any hostel I’ve ever stayed at.

Interests

I’m interested in history, languages, cooking and gastronomy, lifestyles and philosophy, and of course crazy backpacking stories and experiences.
