About Me

Hi there!

I'm not particularly good at describing myself, so I'm sorry for that. What I can say for sure though is that I am open to meet and get to know any kind of people, the more different the better. Gender, sexuality, race, religion, doesn't matter how you identify, I am eager to get to know you. I like a good conversation over a glass of wine but I also appreciate the value of being by myself.

We are hosting together with my boyfriend, Buğra who has hosted travellers from over 45 countries. Suffice to say, I have a lot of catching up to do. We are both vegetarian, however if you would like to buy and cook your own meat you are welcome to do so.

I believe that life is made up of the small joys of the everydays, so instead of me further describing myself, how about you get to know me through a couple of small, everyday things I particularly enjoy doing.
~ Walking around in a bookstore, not necessarily looking to buy something just opening books, reading a paragraph or two and putting them back.
~ Asking strangers if I can pet their dogs.
~ Hugging my partner after a tiring day of work and physically feel my battery being recharged.
~ Finding cute cafés with unique interiors and spend my time looking around while having my drink.
~ Wrap myself in a blanket on a moody afternoon and just listen to the sound of the rain pattering on the window sill.
~ Going to antique/ second-hand stores, smelling old books, fantasising about how nice certain items would look in my yet non-existent historical home.
~ Having such a nice chat with someone, that we don't even realise it's half past 2 in the morning.
~ On a sunny afternoon, sit out in a lively square, soak up the sun and listen to the sounds of everyday life.
~ Finally sitting down in a warm place after a long, cold day spent outside hiking, and eating some good food.

That would be about it for now, but if you would like to know more about me or us, feel free to ask.

The couch ✨
We live in a studio apartment, so apart from the kitchen and the bathroom everything is in one room. For couchsurfers, we can offer a convertible couch in the same room we sleep in.
We can offer towels, bedding, pillows and toiletries if needed.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I was doing my Erasmus in Trabzon, Turkey, where I met my partner Buğra who was a very active host in the area. I got to meet all the lovely people he hosted there and realised what an amazing opportunity it is to be able to be welcomed in people's homes, share meals with them and exchange stories. Life is built on human connections and what a spectacular thing it is to have the ability to meet so many different people with contrasting lives and learn something from them. It's an experience I surely want to have in my life.

Music, Movies, and Books

I've always had a problem choosing favourites, I feel like doing so I'm making a final decision that I can never change. Silly I know. I recently got back into reading and one of my favourite genres is fantasy, especially clever, darker toned fantasy or very whimsical, cosy fantasy stories that make you feel warm from the inside just like a good cup of tea. I also like thrillers, feel-good or sombre, well written, descriptive books.

When it comes to music I don't pick music by genres, I pick them by vibes if you get what I'm saying. Like; moody, rainy evening when you're inside in a candle-lit room wrapped in a blanket and having a hot drink, something you would sing on a pirate ship while drinking rum and sailing off to unknown adventures, bops that make you wanna move and sing even if you're horrible at it, disney songs, medieval-esque music that would be a soundtrack in Witcher etc.

I'll watch about any movie to be honest. I like a good comedy, a heartfelt story with a good cry, a beautiful documentary with breathtaking pictures, a tense and ominous horror, you name it. On youtube, I also watch a lot of restorations, fashion historians, sewing videos, Sims videos etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Fundraised for and helped restore an elementary school in Turkey near the Syrian border.

What I Can Share with Hosts

If we have enough time I would be more than happy to cook a meal or two. I love to cook and experiment with different dishes. I'm also keen on sharing knowledge about languages or random bits of trivia that I store in my brain for no other reason than to share it with others.
