About Me

On a 3-6 month Rock Climbing Road Trip across Europe starting from July until October 2023 :

I'm a food and travel blogger from Zagreb, Croatia, I love to travel, cook and try delicious local food on all of my travels.

I've studied Mechatronics and Robotics which I have a Bachelor's degree in, and after that I decided to leave all that and apply for a Pastry chef program in Zagreb and later on moved to Italy where I studied and got my Pastry chef degree. 👨🏻‍🍳

Hrvoje traveled around the world, lived in the US and New Zealand, worked in IT, and then quit his job and started working in a Bouldering gym. He is climbing now for 5 years, he was the leader of the Rock Climbing School for 2 years in a row at our Alpine Climbing Club in Zagreb, and loves all types of climbing. 🧗🏻‍♀️ He also plays a guitar and we have a collection of 9 guitars at home, so if you play one, let us know so we can plan a jam session. 🎸

We travel as much as we can and we love meeting new people, hearing their stories and having a great time! We are an open-minded couple who loves hanging out, always with a big smile on our face. 😁

In our free time we love te read, learn new languages, hike and rock climb - which we try to do when ever we travel somewhere in some capacity.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing because it's a great place to meet new people who love to travel and to hang out. It's a great way to meet locals when travelling who can show you around and give you advice, share their experiences and stories, as well as host travellers who I can show around my home town, show them Croatia's hidden gems and why I love Croatia.

Interests

When I was just about to start working as a pastry chef in Italy, because of COVID I had to move back to Croatia and put my pastry chef career on hold while
I worked in sales and technical support as an executive administrative specialist. Later on I got a job as a Pastry chef professor at a private college in Zagreb and I organize culinary workshops and Culinary Team Buildings for companies and groups of people who enjoy and love cooking. 👨🏻‍🍳

A year and a half ago I started rock climbing because of my partner Hrvoje. My first climbing experience was not in the gym, never tried bouldering before, but a sport route in Golubinjak forest in Croatia. From then on I've finished an Alpine climbing school as part of our rock climbing club and we've been bouldering and rock climbing where ever the rocks take us!

Cooking and baking is my passion, spending time in the kitchen, creating new recipes. Since we've been on this rock climbing road trip, I still try to think of new recipes in the outdoor environment and we cook something new each day, on our little portable stove surrounded by nature.

Music, Movies, and Books

Atm I've been reading the Bruce Springsteen autobiography - Born to run, and I love it, I think I will start it all over again as soon as I finish the last page. I also have the David Attenborough - Life on our planet on my reding list, as well as Daisy Jones & The Six. I love to mix it up.

When it comes to music I love everything from rock (Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Dire Straits, Fleetwood Mac, The Rolling Stones, R.E.M...), pop, I like indie music - especially non-english ones I stumble upon, different styles of music depending on the mood.

I love TV shows and I keep up with so many of them (The Bear, The Climb, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Black Mirror, Yellow Jackets, GOT, Rings of Power, the Mandalorian, Homeland, the Americans...) and I like independent movie festival selections.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've taken a swim in the Adriatic sea in every month of the year.
I've rock climbed on Cyprus, in Switzerland, Italy, Slovenia, France ...
Hrvoje lived on New Zealand for 3 months, he lived in the US for 4 months, he's been on Erasmus in Sweden for 6 months, he visited South America, Sri Lanka etc..

Teach, Learn, Share

We can teach you how to prepare and cook traditional Croatian recipes and food. We can bake cakes, desserts, sweets, cookies anything you like.
Languages are my passion, we'll teach you all the most important phrases in Croatian!

We can also go for a hike on the weekend, since we usually go on weekend nature trips every week, or you can join us for rock climbing and bouldering.
