Hey there! I am Fu Xin, a Dutch gal that’s currently traveling in South America and will head to North America around mid-July. I have just finished an exchange semester in Mexico and now I am enjoying exploring new countries and cultures.

I have lived in the Netherlands in my small hometown my whole life. It’s on the countryside with green surrounding everywhere. Some of my hobbies include reading, analog photography, drawing and painting (although I’m not very good at it, I do enjoy it), listening to music, go out in nature and hanging out with my friends. All very basic hobbies, but I just enjoy it :).

I have been an au pair in Spain for 4 months after I graduated high school. This was a nice experience and taught me more about myself.

For the future I would like to do lots of things. These things include doing humanitarian work in Africa (and other countries), buying a van and convert it into a home, writing poetry, opening a cafe, learn pottery, get more into art, doing a working holiday in Australia (and maybe New Zealand and Canada too), learning many new languages and of course doing lots of traveling, get to know other cultures and locals.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am very new on this platform, but I love to learn about new cultures, getting to know locals and see how everyone lives. I believe that you can truly immerse yourself in a culture by meeting the locals or living with them.

It’s a great thing to be able to exchange cultures and through Couchsurfing it’s possible to do so.

I like to meet new people from other cultures to see both the highlights and tourist places and also the not so touristic places.

Music, Movies, and Books

As for music genres I like a lot. It ranges from country to rap to r&b to pop to folk to jazz to house/techno etc. Artists I like include Bruno Mars, Noah Kahan, Morgan Wallen, KIRBY, Zach Bryan, 2Pac and Tash Sultana.

As for movies I am mostly into comedy and romcoms and documentaries. Most movies that I have watched I like but I don’t necessarily have favourite movies.

Some books I liked are The Book Thief, Just Kids, The Kite Runner, Behind the Beautiful Forevers, Tuesdays with Morrie and Everything I Know About Love.

Of course always very open to be introduced to new music, movies and books :).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Probably my 3 month traveling that I am currently doing. Being on the other side of the world and doing and seeing amazing things.

Dutch cuisine is most definitely not one of the finest cuisines, but if you would be interested I could cook a Dutch dish, or any dishes in general.
