About Me

Hi, my name is Alex and I was born in Llívia, a town lying in the Spanish-French  borderland, in a beautiful valley at the heart of the Pyriness. I am currently living in Hyderabad, India.

I've always been an extrovert and open-minded person who likes meeting new people and embarking in new adventures.

Since I was young I enrolled myself in exchange programs and social action projects both locally and abroad, and this in turn increased my curiosity and willingness to discover new places and get to know other people.

I define myself as a funny and extrovert person who enjoys socializing, always trying to have a good time and learn from others whenever I get the chance to do so. From that you can guess that I am a talkative person, but I am also working to improve my skills as a good listener and to take things easier.

I like to spend time with my family and friends. Despite the fact that I've been living abroad for sometime now, I have a really close relationship with them, specially with my two younger siblings and my closest friends.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

On the one hand, I decided to join couchsurfing as a way to get to know new people as well as to get a taste of the local vibes of the places I visit. I've always thought that visiting a country is quite different from understanding it and its dynamics. In that sense being able to share my time with someone who lives in a given place is the best way to get into the insights of what's going on and experince the city's/ country's vibe.

On the other, joining couchsurfing enables me to host people who might be willing to visit my hometown and surrounding areas. Most places I've visited people were very kind and hospitable to me, so I would be greatful if I can also contribute and give back the kindness i was offered while traveling, by doing so where I was born.

Interests

I am enthusiastic individual who likes socializing and exchanging points of view with others. Because of my interest in politics I also got involved in social programs and that is why I started learning different languages and getting used to multicultural environments.

I am a big fan of winter sports, specially skiing and ice-skating, which I have been practicing since I was very young. At summer time I like to spend my time going on mountain treks and camping in nature with friends.

I am also very passionate about reading books, no matter what genre. Reading for me is a way not only to travel to different places or times, but also a way to expand my knowledge and imagination.

When it comes to art I am very fond of Romanitc painters but I also feel cool in visiting unconventional venues where non-mainstream exhibitions are hosted. Just to get a different taste of people's creativity.

Music, Movies, and Books

Electro-pop music and techno are my favorite types of music, and the ones I listen to the most when at home or during comuting. Anyways, I am always up to discover new sounds and rythms, so I don't discard going to concerts (whether it is classical music or metal), traditonal folk events or local music festivals.

As said I love reading, specially historical and novel books. So far, my favorite book is "The God of Small Things" by Arundhati Roy, and which I have read multiple times. I like books written in different places, differents styles explaining different stories, so as to capture the diverse and complex realities across our planet and the author's feelings. Whenever I have the chance I try to buy books from places new to me, though sometimes this has lead to overweight luggage problems.

I'm not a really film-fan, but should I choose a genre I would probably go for thrill or horror movies. What I know for sure is that I don't like romantic ones.

Teach, Learn, Share

In my school years I was employed as a part-time language teacher, where I was in charge of language lessons to kids from 3 up to 16 y/o. I have good languages skills so I can be a genuinely good language-exchange partner.

Also I enjoy having good conversations and having a good time.
