Overview
About Me
I trained and worked for many years as a wildlife biologist, currently working in healthcare. Relatively new to couchsurfing, I'm hoping to travel to Scotland this spring, (May?), bicycling on the Hebridean Way and in the Highlands. I want to practice and improve my Gàidhlig, (immersion classes and/or staying with native speakers), and meet people who like to share about their homeland.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To meet people who live where I am travelling! (And I've hosted one wonderful guest!). To remember how wonderful most people are! I used to hitchhike and people were so amazing. I want to have some real sense of a place and people, language, history, culture, (food, always great, too!), not just the scenery.
Music, Movies, and Books
I love early music (Josquin...), I am trying to learn the harp!; favourite movie? maybe Antonia's Line; books, Michael Pollan, lately...Noam Chomsky...poetry
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Become a mom. Survive! Tried to make it to Timbuktu on my 125cc Honda.
Teach, Learn, Share
?Not sure what this means. I'm a wildlife biologist, I have travelled and lived abroad previously, (working for international NGO's), in Africa and the West Indies. I'm interested in people, current events, history, different cultures and perspectives. How we might learn to get along with each other and the planet...
What I Can Share with Hosts
Myself. Being present, interested, enthusiastic. My interests/personality won't always align with hosts, but that can be the most interesting! I'm wanting to know, understand, learn about other cultures, languages, perspectives.
Countries I’ve Lived In
Canada, Dominica, Nigeria, United States
