Overview
About Me
Hey everyone 👋, I am Isaac. I am half German, half Canadian, and I am currently studying Psychology in the Netherlands. For me, travelling is one of the most important parts of my life. It allows me to connect with locals and experience different cultures more than anything else, thus giving me the chance to explore the world and see it from completely different perspectives.
In the past, my biggest travel adventure was taking a gap year after finishing school and going to various different countries and continents (for instance Tanzania, Australia, China, and many more). During this time, I had the chance to take part in multiple volunteering projects and also couchsurf around, through which I got to know many amazing people. I also got to delve much deeper into the local cultures than would otherwise be possible.
Besides travelling and volunteering, I also really love photography, learning languages (I am currently actively learning Mandarin), hiking, climbing (both outdoor and indoor), and staying fit in general.
Till we see each other 😀
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I really love the type of travelling Couchsurfing offers, and it fits very well with how I want to explore new places. It gives me the opportunity to meet many new people in a much deeper way than I otherwise would, while at the same time allowing for cultural exchange and great experiences and memories 😁. I also believe that the best way to visit a completely new place is with someone who is local, since this provides insights into the place that would not be possible otherwise.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like a lot of music genre, though at the moment I am into country, indie folk, cpop, and lofi (all good music for travelling 😅).
For books, I like reading sci-fi, fantasy, and books about psychology, but I'm always open for a good suggestion. A Song of Ice and Fire is probably my favorite book series (even though George won't finish it 🥲).
For movies I really love to watch movies that don't leave my thoughts after finishing it and give me food for thought (Christopher Nolan, Shutter Island, etc). But I am also into good horror, action (Tarantino), and comedy movies.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Meeting a dozen travellers in Bratislava on a fun night out at the riverside,
sleeping under the nightsky in Slovenia,
meeting the Maasai and Chagga tribe, going on Safari, and climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania,
getting to know all kind of different people while travelling through South-East Australia,
having the chance to celebrate an authentic Chinese New Year in ShangXi, China,
and meeting the most kind family in Mongolia next to the Nadaam festival in Testerleg.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am very open and curious to learn something new about your culture, language, or yourself, and hopefully I'll be able to tell you something about me and where I come from in return :).
What I Can Share with Hosts
I will do my best to be no extra work for you. My goals are to meet and get to know new people from around the world and to get to know the place you live in (since you know your place way better than I ever could).
This means, I will clean up after myself (dishes, laundry, etc.), I can buy my own food / contribute to a meal if needed (we can also cook together or I can also try making a german dish 😂), and depending on how much time we'll have, and how long I stay, I can help with work around your place, if you require any.
