About Me

Hello! My name is Estevão, I am a Brazilian digital nomad who is currently in Russia as a tourist and a student of the Russian language. I have many interests: music, psychology, philosophy, sports, science, mathematics... and love to talk and exchange ideas. Currently interested mainly in getting to know better Russian culture.

I really like classical literature, and think there is little we can find out about life that our ancestors haven't already though about 5000 years ago. I think life is a constant learning process; we may sometimes fool ourselves thinking we've all figured out, but then shit happens, you realize there was something you've missed... and then you learn :)

For that reason, I like to meet new people. To feel their energy, to expand my views... of course nothing of these comes from 'thinking', but rather from 'feeling'. I prefer to stay away from complaining: life can never be 100% good, by nature, and complaining about the percentage that is bad only makes it worse. I rather see it as the process it really is, as the unavoidable necessity for growth and learning — and for happiness — like how you have to turn off all the lights, if you want to see the starts that are the most further away.

That may be why I like Russian realism, especially Gogol & Dostoevsky so much. For they can make these characters — often full of flaws like pride, resentment, hate, envy, cowardliness — put they in these tragic situations: and make you laugh. We are all flawed human beings who are sure to encounter tragedy and misfortune along the way, so best to extract a laugh from it :)

In another topic, I absolutely love what I do for a living (programming) and try always to do it the best way possible. We already have to dedicate whole big chunk of our most precious, finite, and irreplaceable resource — time — to work; so I rather enjoy it and take it not as an unfulfilling obligation, but as a calling, an opportunity to be excellent. To better the lives of those who are being affected by the product I am building and those who work with me the most as I can. I am very grateful I am able to do it remotely and thus travel and meet people from all over the world on the process.

And this applies to everything else, really. I think we should all strive to be good, kind and caring with those we encounter in our lives. Nobody can solve the global problems alone, in a single act. Rather, in many small acts, we can help those we hold closely in our lives — even those we don't like. We can be empathetic with them and we can push them forward, when they don't believe in themselves. What we believe about ourselves is what is most likely to become our reality, so some support along the way always comes in hand :)

Anyway, that's a little bit about me and how I see world :)
