About Me

Dia Dhuit, good to meet you!

I am a chemical/automation engineer who quit his job to go travel. I am currently on an aimless backpacking adventure around around Turkey and Europe and can't host people back home.

Personally, I love meeting new people and experiencing different cultures. I do enjoy outdoor activities such as scuba-diving, skiing, hiking, Sunrise hikes, and rock-climbing. I completed my PADI Scuba certificate last year I'm always willing to try out more activities, so if you have any you want to share, please do.

I love spending time by the sea as I used to sail, and I'm trying to learn how to surf.. I'm not that good currently. I love cooking and would love to learn how to cook some authentic foreign dishes on my travels.

I also enjoy sketching and drawing and can easily get sidetracked in a cafe all day with my sketchbook.

If you can deal with my sterotypical Irish sarcasim/humour, we will get on great. I'm a bit of a chaotic traveller who just goes where the wind takes me... its worked out so far.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am a solo traveller, and I like to see the real side of cities rather than touristic spots.. I think couchsurfing is a great way to meet new people and get a taste of the local culture.

My first experience of couchsurfing was in Istanbul, where I stayed with the hosts for a week and a half. I couldn't have asked for a better experience, and it will be something I will never forget. After this experience, I knew couchsurfing was the way forward for me as a traveller.
