Hey, we are Elias, Johanna and Luis :)

For the time from October 2024 until approximately June 2025 we are a group of three travelling trough Central America. We aber germans who now lived one year in Costa Rica by doing a fascinating voluntary service. We worked each alone in ecological projects, in indigenous territorys and a libary. It’s a gouvernemental subvestioned project called “Weltwärts” which is for young people in Germany. Now our year is over we want to take this great opportunity to be in Central America and speaking sufficiently Spanish to see the other countrys such as Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador and Mexico. We experienced Costa Rican culture and now we want do witness and expeience the other cultures of Central America and its history of indigenous peoples and colonialism like of the Mayas and so much more we yet don’t even can imagine about. We want to talk with the people, live with the people and also carrying some of our German culture. Furthermore we want to see astonishing places like vulcanos and temples like of the Aztecs. In short we are doing this journey for a intercultural exchange and life-long experiences we won’t ever forget.

To tell more about us, we are three very open minded young adults in the age of 20 and 21. Three best friends of one girl and two boys. We met in 2023 in preparation seminars for Costa Rica of our oraganisation (ProREGENWALD). We all are very friendly and relaxed persons who want to help where we can help and exchange to get to know about other lifes. In our year in Costa Rica we learned especially to be very humble and happy with modest standards. It doesn’t disturb us if we have to wash our clothes by hand, we have hammocks to sleep in so we are evenly happy with a space to hang up our hammocks. In generell we are vegetarian but we are content and open to every food. We don’t need much. We are very interested in evotonemtal protection, sustainability and nature. In addition we would describe ourselfs as educated, curious in learning new things, communicative and concious about our acting. Sometimes each needs his/her time alone for hisself/herself but in generell we are very social and active.

This is our first time of Couchsurfing. The philosophy of Couchsurfing convinces us so much, so in the future we want to host also guest from anywhere when we are back in Germany.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

In February 2024 Johanna and Elias went to Panamá to climb up the highest point of Panamá. The vulcano Barú. To see the sunrise we started at 1am by hiking 20km through the dark 2000m high. Unfortunately we were to slow and it was clouded so we didn’t saw the sunrise. But after a while the clouds flow away and we had a very impressive view on the wide space of Panamá, Costa Rica and the Pacific. Overwhelming!
Another adventure was our surf vacation in Guanacaste, in the North of Costa Rica. Where we were with other three volunteers. It was summer in January and we surfed some days and others we spend our time together by cooking and playing card games. At the beach of Nosara we saw the best sunset until now. We are just beginners in surfing but we love it!
A third big experience was a project at Luis place where nearly all volunteers (7) came together and constructed a oven of bricks to create a opportunity for the family to bake. For one week we build the fundament, the walls, patterns and the final vault which made the oven. In our team was a studied constructor so we had an expert who guided and teached us. Unfortunately just Luis saw it in action because it had to dry one week before we could make a fire.
In general during this voluntary year we spend much time together for visits and projects and trips to very special places. So we became very good friends, wherefore we are very thankful for because in Germany we live in three different distant places. So without this voluntary service we probably would’t have ever met.
