About Me
Hi there! I’m Ulfah 🌸
I’m from Yogyakarta, Indonesia a city full of culture, history, and warm-hearted people. I like traveling and hearing people’s stories. I’m here to meet different people from different countries and hear their travel stories, their culture, and their experiences around the world. I’m not a tour guide, but I will help you whenever I can. I’m a bit busy sometimes, but whenever my schedule allows, I’d be happy to meet up or share a meal together.
I’ve always loved traveling, especially to nature. Hiking is one of my biggest passions, and I’ve completed several climbs in Indonesia, including Mount Merbabu, Mount Prau, Mount Bismo, Mount Kembang, and Mount Papandayan. I started my international travels with trips to Japan (Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, and Mount Fuji) and South Korea (Seoul and Busan). This year, I’m continuing my journey to Europe, visiting the Netherlands, Spain, and Italy.
My place is open to everyone. I live alone in a small house with one bedroom, complete with all basic facilities. If you stay here, you’re welcome to use the kitchen freely and you can even help yourself to some food I’ve prepared. I live in Kasongan Tourism Village, a famous pottery craft center, close to my parents’ home. Our family runs a pottery business, and my parents hold pottery-making classes every day. If you’re interested in arts, crafts, or pottery, we’d be happy to welcome you to join a class for free.
If you visit Yogyakarta, I’d love to show you around whether it’s exploring mountains, hills, waterfalls, rivers, beaches, or discovering our rich culture at temples, the royal palace (Keraton), and traditional markets. We can also enjoy local food, or simply ride a motorbike around the city and countryside.
Looking forward to meeting you! Go with the flow and let’s enjoy our time together. For me, Couchsurfing is not just about a place to stay, it’s about sharing life, culture, and creating real connections.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I believe traveling is not only about visiting new places, but also about meeting new people and exchanging cultures. Couchsurfing gives me the opportunity to connect with locals and travelers from around the world, hear their stories, and learn from their experiences.
I joined CS quite a while ago, but because of work and university, I wasn’t very active. This year, I’m ready to explore more, meet people in person, and start building my CS references.
When I travel, I enjoy meeting hosts who can show me their culture from a local perspective. And when I host, I love sharing my home, my city, and my culture.

Music, Movies, and Books
When it comes to music, I honestly enjoy almost everything. I love Indonesian pop songs, Japanese and Korean music, and lately I’ve been enjoying Spanish songs too. I even like rap sometimes it’s about the beat, sometimes it’s about the story in the lyrics. Music is like a soundtrack to my travels, always matching the mood of the moment.
For movies, I have a soft spot for thrillers about mysteries or serial killers the kind that keep you guessing until the very end. I also enjoy adventure films, travel documentaries, Korean dramas, and a bit of fantasy when I want to escape reality for a while. I’m a big fan of Harry Potter (both the books and the films), The Lord of the Rings, and similar epic worlds.
Books for me are another form of travel. I enjoy fantasy adventures, mystery novels, and stories that make me feel like I’m part of another world. Whether it’s magic, mystery, or a real-life journey, a good story always inspires me to keep exploring.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of the most amazing things I’ve done is hiking several mountains in Indonesia, including some active volcanoes like Merbabu, Prau, Bismo, Kembang, and Papandayan. Each hike was a mix of challenge, excitement, and breathtaking views from sunrise over misty peaks to the quiet beauty of untouched nature.
It wasn’t just about reaching the summit; it was about pushing my limits, enjoying the journey, and feeling connected to the world around me. These experiences taught me patience, resilience, and a deep love for nature things I always carry with me, whether I’m exploring new cities abroad or sharing stories with new friends.
