About Me

Hello! My name is Théo and I'm 33 years old. I am a professional chef and more recently, I have worked as a social worker for war refugees. I am embarking on a long bicycle journey in early September 2023, from France to Mongolia, for approximately one year. My goal is to work as a volunteer throughout the trip, to enrich myself personally and develop new skills. I would also like to document these experiences. My first volunteering experience dates back 7 years ago, in northern Thailand, about an hour away from the small town of Mae Wang. I participated in eco-construction and organic agriculture projects there. It was a fantastic experience, and I have returned several times since. I also worked as a chef for 4 months in an eco-village on a small private island in Cambodia, on Koh Totang Island. In Japan, I had the opportunity to volunteer in the Chichibu Mountains, north of Tokyo, with an elderly gentleman who was a kimono restaurateur. In Sri Lanka, I was welcomed at a hotel in Dickwella, with the mission of helping to restore the establishment that was destroyed during the 2004 tsunami. We also created the menu for the restaurant, drawing inspiration from the local culinary wonders. It was an unforgettable experience. One particularly memorable experience was in Baie Saint Paul, Canada. I worked and lived in a sled dog kennel, nestled in the heart of the boreal forest. My tasks involved feeding the 40 dogs, taking care of them, cleaning the enclosures, playing with them, and preparing the sleds for outings. As a guide, I also had the opportunity to embark on adventures through the frozen landscapes of Canada. I also worked near Alaska, in Yukon, in Tagish and Whitehorse. I was hosted by a Canadian family and contributed to the daily tasks on their large property in the middle of the forest. I cooked, chopped wood, did carpentry and woodworking, and also took care of people with disabilities who were also welcomed by the family. I have been fortunate to have many incredible experiences around the world, thanks to the opportunities that have been presented to me. I have a desire to learn from others and a thirst for discovering new things. I enjoy acquiring new skills and sharing my own. I am naturally optimistic and strive for quality work. I love to travel, eat, laugh, engage in conversations, learn, and be nourished by encounters.

I speak french and english ☺️
