About Me

Hey there, I'm Elías. I see myself as someone who is calm, studious, and passionate about sports. I'm also sociable, respectful, and a bit of a neat freak. I love meeting new people and learning from them. My hobbies range from weightlifting and crossfit to reading, hiking, and just exploring new places. I'm really passionate about discovering new cultures and immersing myself in the essence of each place I visit. I believe that travel is all about living enriching experiences and that's why I'm drawn to Couchsurfing. It gives me the chance to connect with authentic people and truly understand the local way of life. As a guest, I'm more than happy to share my native language, Spanish, and even cook a dish from my region, although the taste might depend on the local ingredients. One thing I live by is the philosophy that discipline, sooner or later, overcomes intelligence. I truly believe that there's always room to become a better version of yourself.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Describing an amazing experience without feeling judged can be a bit challenging, but I'll give it a shot. Among my personal and professional achievements, I'm really proud of completing my studies at one of the most competitive national universities in Peru, where I focused on environmental engineering. I've also developed a love for sports, which has become a significant part of my life. When it comes to unique travel experiences, living in native communities in the Peruvian jungle has been truly eye-opening. Witnessing the harmonious coexistence of nature and humanity was simply incredible. This experience has shifted my perspective on life, emphasizing the importance of living in the present and cherishing the essence of life without being overly concerned about the past or the future. In my free time, I enjoy volunteering in Lima. Currently, I'm dedicated to improving the relationship between mining and the environment through my work for the Peruvian state. On a lighter note, I'm also working on an interesting skill – learning to walk on my hands.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love immersing myself in new cultures and sharing my Peruvian heritage, including the possibility of preparing some traditional dishes, depending on the local ingredients available. I'm eager to connect with others and exchange unique experiences.

What I Can Share with Hosts

When it comes to cultural experiences, I can cook a dish from my region, although the taste will depend on the local ingredients. I can also share insights about the different worldviews of Peru, including the coast, mountains, and jungle. I'm familiar with almost 80% of my country. I'd love to share travel stories, even though my English may not be perfect, but I'll certainly do my best. Among my useful skills, I'm good at cleaning, especially when it comes to my room. However, I have to admit that I'm always a bit apprehensive about cleaning the bathroom. I've also taken basic first aid courses. For fun activities, I enjoy hiking, playing board games, and having engaging conversations. Above all, I always strive to show respect and consideration to others and to the house that will host me.

Countries I’ve Visited
