Hello, I'm Maira from Uruguay, a small and warm country in South America. I decided to change my life for an indefinite period of time and dedicate myself to traveling. I always liked it and did it more as a tourist, but I always needed to know the cultures in more depth, also to understand them a little better. That's why I decided to travel differently, like volunteering or Couchsurfing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I do it to experience another form of travel, other than as a tourist or volunteering. As another way to get to know the local culture, either through the eyes and experience of local people, or foreigners who have resided in the place for some time.

Music, Movies, and Books

My musical tastes are very variable, my repertoire is broad and I am also very open to learning new rhythms, it depends on my activities and my mood what I can hear.
As for books, I am more into novels, philosophy, politics and sociology.
I like movies and series but I'm not a big consumer.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

After graduating and working as a Nurse, I left to study and dedicate myself to Interior Design.
Leaving my apartment, my stable job and my cat, to go out to travel the world without knowing very well how or with a very defined plan.
I don't know if it will seem incredible to you, but for me they were incredible things, more than go to Amazon, skydiving in Punta del Este or diving in Thailand.
Yes, I'm not afraid of changes with some control.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a somewhat versatile person, so if you invite me to the gym I will go but also to drink and eat deliciously without guilt. A yoga class or a rave. Go out with friends and let the night surprise us, but I also really enjoy the coffee shop on the corner.
I can talk a lot about topics of interest but also spend the entire day in silence.
Although I know what I like and where I can feel more or less comfortable, I like people to show themselves as they are, so that I can experience other things as well.
I'm a calm, conciliatory, educated person and always willing to dialogue. I try to be as empathetic and respectful as possible.
I will always have a beer and a smile to offer.
