About Me

Halli Hallöchen!
My name is Thaís, I was born in a small town in my beloved Brazil (near Rio de Janeiro—yes! But no, I don’t have the carioca accent). I’m 25 years old and currently wrapping up my first year in Europe, where I started my journey in Germany and now live in Vienna, Austria. I’m planning to keep adventuring around Europe for the next two years!

I speak Portuguese and German, and I’m learning English along the way. Two years ago, I closed a big chapter of my life and decided it was time to explore the world—to dive into new cultures, cuisines, and meet incredible people. I’m always chasing freedom and embracing change.

It might sound funny, but I probably know more about Europe than my own Brazil (for now—my heart is definitely longing for a trip back someday). Brazil is vast and incredible, just like my love for pets. My mom has two cats, and I miss them every single day! I also love socializing. Even though I might seem shy at first (thanks to my not-so-fluent English), in Portuguese, I’m a total chatterbox.

Thank you for stopping by to read a bit about me! I hope this gives you a glimpse of my free and adventurous soul. And just a note—I’m not here for romantic connections or anything like that. I’m here to share my essence, learn from others, and soak in all the beautiful cultures, countries, and stories the world has to offer.

Viele Grüße, Thaís :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I discovered Couchsurfing through a friend who had an amazing trip across Europe. She told me about all the incredible people she met along the way, and I thought: well, I love meeting people, so why not give it a try?

Sometimes I travel solo, other times with friends, but staying isolated in hotels or hostels doesn’t feel like the best way to experience new cultures—or share my own. I believe this community is a perfect way to create meaningful connections and build lasting friendships with people from all over the world.

Interests

I’m a big fan of photography and video editing, even though I’m not always feeling super creative. You’ll usually find me online on Instagram (I know, I know). I also love tattoos and piercings (I have 5 tattoos and 15 piercings!) and enjoy collecting snow globes and country flags. My dream? Visiting every single country—no exceptions—and trying as many unique foods as I can (okay, maybe not everything).

I’m passionate about languages and constantly hopping between learning new ones. I don’t follow football much, but when I watch a game, I can’t help but get excited! I’m also a gym enthusiast with plenty of future plans.

Oh, and if you talk to me about cars or motorcycle performances, I’ll light up like a little kid! Someday soon, I hope to drive something cool on the Autobahn. I’m also a fan of sunny days, the beach, and big adventures (like bungee jumping). When I eventually settle down, I dream of having two cats and two Siberian huskies. :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I’m so eclectic that I can switch up my music taste at lightning speed! I never watch horror movies alone (or even if I have to sleep alone afterward). I’m a huge fan of Brazilian music, but you’ll always catch me listening to some pop too.

I love romantic comedies and romance movies (believe it or not, my favorite saga is still Twilight), and when it comes to books, I’m all about fantasy novels with zero chance of being real. My absolute favorite? A Court of Thorns and Roses—I’ve read it more than 15 times!

At the gym, my playlist is full of Brazilian remixes that sound like game music. When I need to focus, I’m all about Lo-Fi beats (seriously, have you tried it? It’s amazing for concentration). And for sleeping, nothing beats rain sounds. :)

Right now, I’m alternating between Peaky Blinders and Dexter (don’t ask me why I started Dexter, but hey, I’m enjoying it). Even so, I get bored pretty quickly, so I’m always jumping between shows and hobbies.

This is the place where you’ll find out what I’m listening to at the moment—and, of course, just how eclectic I really am:

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well, I could tell you about the time I rode more than 200 kilometers on a motorcycle through the mountainous region of my state in Brazil or how much I love driving and testing my speed limits in a car haha. But honestly, I think the most incredible thing I’ve done is leaving my country to explore the world. I landed in Europe to live as an exchange student for two years—one year in Germany, one in Austria to finally master German and maybe, who knows, a last year here as well.

It might sound simple, but this adventure included a lot of firsts for me: it was my first time flying (I know, crazy!), and it was the first time I did something entirely on my own. Being away from the people I love hasn’t been easy, but creating a little family here has been one of the most amazing parts of this journey!

Teach, Learn, Share

I could spend hours talking about my culture and my country (even though I haven’t visited many places yet). I’d love to show and teach you about our cuisine—seriously, visit Brazil, and you’ll understand why I say it has the best food in the world!

I want to learn more about the culture of every place I visit, meet new people, and even learn how to swim someday. My big goal? Mastering 5 languages before I turn 30 (wish me luck—I started with German!).

But hey, I’m also a good listener and super curious about other people’s stories. So, tell me about yourself! Your dreams, favorite places, family, friends, and your culture too—I’d love to hear it all :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

How much do you enjoy listening to a chatterbox? If you speak Portuguese, trust me, it’ll flow naturally haha.

But if you’re patient enough to hear me in other languages, I promise I can tell you plenty of stories—from what I’ve learned in my country and around the world to all the crazy experiences I’ve had so far. And, of course, as a good Gemini, I’ll share my sense of humor and, as a Brazilian, my friendliness. If you have the time, we can even cook some Brazilian food together! :)
