About Me
Hello! We’re Jhon and William
Nice to meet you! We’re Jhon and William, a 23-year-old couple from Bogotá, Colombia. We met at university three years ago, and since then, we’ve shared a deep passion: travelling. Although our personalities are quite different—I’m Jhon, an architect, and William is an economist—our differences complement each other perfectly and have enriched our travel experiences.
About Us
What Unites Us?
Our greatest passion is travelling and exploring the world. We love discovering new places, finding out what’s behind every window, screen, or border, and immersing ourselves in local cultures. We’re fascinated by learning about history, customs, and trying traditional foods from each destination.
How Did It All Start?
From the beginning, our love for travel brought us together. Despite only knowing each other for a short time, we quickly started planning adventures together. Each trip has been an opportunity to learn and discover, and we’re currently on a new significant goal: improving our English.
Our Current Experience
At the moment, we’re in London taking an English course. We believe Couchsurfing is an excellent way to practise the language while meeting local people and experiencing life in the city authentically. Besides studying, we love walking around the city, exploring hidden spots, and discovering off-the-beaten-path places that hold special magic.
What We’re Looking for in Couchsurfing
Local Connections:
For us, meeting local people is an incredible way to understand a country and its way of life. We value building a network of friends in each destination, as we believe sharing experiences and knowledge enriches our travels.
Respect and Cleanliness:
We understand that your home is a place of peace and rest. We will respect and take care of it as if it were our own. Cleanliness is fundamental to us; we always follow the rule of “leave the place better than you found it.”
Open Communication:
Communication is key in any Couchsurfing experience. We will strive to maintain good communication and ensure that your home feels comfortable and welcoming.
Our Interests
Adventures and Nature:
We love nature, animals, and outdoor adventures. We enjoy hiking, seeing mountains, beaches, and waterfalls. We’ve had incredible experiences, such as our spontaneous trip to Scotland where we explored the Highlands and had memorable adventures.
Cooking and Culture:
I (Jhon) love cooking and am always happy to share a meal if the opportunity arises. Local cuisine is an essential part of our travel experience, and we enjoy trying and preparing traditional dishes.
Upcoming Plans
Throughout the year, we’ll be travelling to various countries in Europe to continue exploring and learning. Besides staying with friends and family, we’re excited to use Couchsurfing to meet more wonderful people and expand our social circle.
We’d love the opportunity to stay with you and share this Couchsurfing experience! We’re excited about the possibility of meeting amazing people and continuing our adventures around the world.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Connection with Local People: They believe that the best way to truly understand a country and its culture is by interacting directly with local people. Couchsurfing allows them to immerse themselves in the everyday life of the places they visit and to create a network of friends that enriches their travel experience.
Authenticity and Immersive Experience: They are looking for a more authentic and “real” travel experience, away from traditional tourist routes. By staying with people who know the area well, they can discover unique and less-known aspects of the cities and regions they visit.
Practising English: They are currently in London improving their English and believe that Couchsurfing is an excellent way to practise the language in a natural, everyday setting, by conversing with native speakers and sharing experiences.
Respect and Mutual Learning: They value respect and open communication and want to show that they are guests who care for and respect their hosts' home, while also sharing their own culture and knowledge with them.

Music, Movies, and Books
In musical tastes we are both varied, we like all kinds of music and really when we say all kinds we mean all kinds, we can enjoy everything from classical music, jazz and blues, taking us to music from the 60s to the 90s. Within pop, rock, etc. we also enjoy electronic music and its subgenres but perhaps because of our Latin roots we love all that happy music that makes you enjoy life with the desire to dance, reggaeton, salsa, vallenato, bachata and even rancheras, the truth is that within music we really like to discover new genres and also show our own.
In movies, John enjoys the world of cinema the most, although William does too when a movie is really interesting. I love all those movies that blow your mind and make you think, "Wow, incredible." We also really enjoy those based on real stories, animated ones, and comedies.
In the literary field, we are increasingly trying to develop the habit of reading, and especially reading in English, since this is our main reason for traveling and we are currently implementing this habit more and more.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Cultural Exchange: They can offer hosts a rich perspective on Colombian culture, including its history, customs, and cuisine. This includes sharing stories and knowledge about the places they’ve visited and their life in Colombia.
Cooking and Gastronomy: Jhon enjoys cooking, so they could share the preparation of traditional Colombian dishes with their hosts or collaborate in the kitchen to prepare meals together.
Travel Experiences: They can share stories and anecdotes from their travels, particularly their adventures in places like Scotland, which can be inspiring and interesting for their hosts.
Language Practice: They can offer their hosts the opportunity to practise Spanish if they’re interested, while also practising their English with them, creating a mutually beneficial exchange.
Personal Connection: They can contribute to creating an atmosphere of camaraderie and friendship, allowing them to build a network of friends during their travels, enriching the experience for both them and their hosts.
Help and Respect in the Home: Understanding the importance of caring for and respecting their hosts' space, they can bring a respectful and helpful attitude, ensuring the home is kept clean and tidy, just as they would in their own home.
Architectural Advice: Jhon, being an architect, can offer advice if the hosts have upcoming renovation projects or are interested in any kind of improvement or design in their home. This professional knowledge can be an added value for hosts who are considering changes to their space.
