France 🚗 Turkey by hitchhiking in progress 😁✌️

Hello 👋

My name is Mathis, I'm 21 and I grew up in the Paris region. I studied in Lyon where I learnt a lot about biology applied to agronomy 🌻

I was involved in a student association with which I put on events to liven up life in my neighbourhood, from flash mobs to shared gardens 🌱

My curiosity and determination have brought a whole range of passions to my life. As a nature lover I delight in the edible plants I find on my walks and sport has always been part of my equilibrium, with running, climbing and mountain sports.

Ever since I was little I've loved building, so I started DIY as soon as I could handle a screwdriver 👷‍♂️ And today I'm happy to have fitted out my first van with my little hands 🚐 (maybe to live in when I get back from my trip?).

The little touch of artist in me expresses itself through music (the Handpan, if you know it🛸), drawing, cooking (vegetarian 🌱), pastry-making (I was lucky enough to take part in a televised pastry-making competition🎂)... and above all I love sharing all this with my friends and family 🌟

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I dream of travelling, discovering and learning... A travel project has borned in my little head. I'd like to be in line with my ecological convictions, make the most of every kilometer that the trip has to offer and, above all, take my time 🍃

So I'm going to Turkey , hitchhiking from Paris this summer 2025.
During this trip, I'll be woofing on farms to learn more and get inspired about agriculture and its adaptations to climate change. I'd also like this trip to be a chance to meet people (because that's what makes us grow) and discover the countries I'll be travelling through. And what better way to discover a country than to visit it with its inhabitants 😊

I really enjoy listening to music, whether it's pop, electronic or classical 🕺 I also like to sit back and watch a good film recommended to me 🎥

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

With my grandmother and my little sister we walked the Camino de Compostela, from Le Puy en Velay to Santiago de Compostella in Spain. We started the walk when we were 10 and 8 years old, and made a little more progress over 4 summers before finally reaching the ocean, thanks to our feet and our perseverance 🌊
It was a great lesson in humility, which also gave me self-confidence. And, above all, it made me aware of the generosity and kindness we all have within us 🌟

I have a passion for baking that I love to share 🎂
I took advantage of my confinement in France to learn about edible and medicinal wild plants 🌱 perhaps we'll have the opportunity to prepare a good nettle pesto 😊
