Overview
About Me
Hi, My name is Ahmet. I’m a 28 year old actor and barista based in Istanbul. My journey began in Antalya, but at the age of 20, I moved to Edirne to study Mathematics. After one year, I decided to leave my degree behind to pursue a career in acting. I moved to Istanbul in 2017 and have been calling this vibrant city home ever since.
I have professional experience across theater, film and television. Alongside my creative projects, I work as a barista. I’m genuinely social and love discovering new cultures and meeting people from all walks of life.
Back home, I share a flat with two roommates and our three Toy Poodles. Living in busy, bet-friendly household has made me very adaptable to shared spaces and a considerate guest. I’m always eager to learn something new and I’m always up for a great conversation over a cup of coffee.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I’m here to meet new people and experience different cultures. I prefer staying with locals because I value genuine connections and want to see the city through a local's eyes. I’m also traveling to practice my English.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I’m a big fan of electronic music and I love dancing to it. At the same time, I have a deep appreciation for local and traditional sounds. I’m especially into Anatolian Rock and anything that has a unique local vibe.
Movies: My taste in cinema leans more towards Cannes-style independent films rather than mainstream Oscar productions. I prefer movies that focus on character depth and artistic storytelling.
Books: I enjoy stories about journeys and self-discovery. Currently, I’m reading "Zorba the Greek" by Nikos Kazantzakis, and I find these types of road stories very inspiring.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Even though I'm not a singer and don't particularly trust my voice, I once had to perform a long, emotional folk song (türkü) alone on stage in front of 350 people. It was a requirement for my role in a play. Despite my nerves, I stayed in character and completed the performance. It was a challenging but very rewarding experience for me as an actor.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach: I can show you how to brew a great cup of Turkish coffee or a proper V60.
Learn: I’m eager to learn about your local lifestyle and perhaps a few useful phrases in your language.
Share: I can share stories from Istanbul’s colorful culture, my experiences living with three dogs, and a good conversation over coffee.
