About Me

Hi! My name is Adem, I’m 25 years old and from Istanbul, Türkiye. I’m currently doing my master’s degree in aviation and working as a research assistant.

Thanks to the Erasmus program, I’m now living in Portugal until February. Traveling the world has always been one of my biggest dreams. I’m passionate about discovering new places, meeting new people, and exploring different cultures.

During my time in Europe, I’m planning to travel across the continent—starting with Spain! I hope to collect as many unique experiences as possible and share them with others along the way.

With love and respect,
Namaste.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Instead of staying in a simple hostel, I want to meet local people and experience the culture of each city or country more deeply. I believe Couchsurfing is a great way to create meaningful friendships, share stories, and collect unforgettable memories and experiences.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite song is “Englishman in New York” by Sting — I love its calm rhythm and the feeling of being yourself wherever you are in the world.
My favorite movie is Interstellar, because it beautifully combines science, emotion, and the endless curiosity about the universe.
And my favorite book is Meditations by Marcus Aurelius. It helps me reflect on life, stay grounded, and focus on what truly matters.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Once, I joined a volunteer project in Tajikistan where our goal was to help build a village school. We stayed with local families for three nights — their homes were very simple, the water wasn’t clean, and the toilets didn’t even have doors. Many of my friends got sick, but we never complained and completed our mission together. It was a challenging experience, but it taught me a lot about gratitude, resilience, and the value of helping others.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share my knowledge and experiences about aviation and academic life, and I’d love to learn more about different cultures, languages, and local lifestyles.
I believe every person has something valuable to teach, so I’m always open to new perspectives and ideas.
I also play bağlama, a traditional Turkish instrument, and I’d be happy to talk about Turkish music and culture.
And of course, I’d love to share good conversations, food, and travel stories along the way!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my travel stories, Turkish culture, and my experiences as a research assistant in aviation.
If you’re interested, I can also play a bit of bağlama, a traditional Turkish instrument, and tell you about its place in our culture.
Most importantly, I can share good vibes, deep conversations, and mutual respect — I believe that’s what makes every Couchsurfing experience special.
