About Me

Hey, I'm Sean! I love traveling, experiencing new cultures, meeting new people, and learning from them! I'm pretty outgoing and sociable and can hold a conversation with pretty much anyone. I'm a big foodie too, and still have yet to discover a food that I don't like.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I actually learned about Couchsurfing in one of my classes at school recently at random, and I thought it would be a great way to make connections with people in and from areas that I'm traveling in and to build a network of friends with similar interests and passions throughout the world. I would like to get more into backpacking, and I think Couchsurfing would be a great way to meet people who are able to help me!

Interests

I like to learn about a whole range of subjects to keep my brain active, so anything that you can teach me is welcome, whether that's something factual or something to connect to on a personal level - that's what I love about meeting people! I've done a bit of hiking throughout my life, but not so much in Europe and it's definitely something I'd like to get more into, the same with backpacking. I loveeeeeee food. Lastly, I'm down for whatever, I usually just look for new, interesting, and fun experiences, and one of those is clubbing for example, but I'm also into just chill activities too, no need for anything crazy, but I put nightlife just to show I'm willing!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traveling throughout as much of the world as I can has been a dream of mine since I was younger, and when I turned 18 I moved from the United States to France on my own as a sort of first step to do this. Moving abroad, especially alone and so young, has had a lot of ups and downs at times, but I am grateful everyday that I made this decision.

However, I guess as a sort of anecdote, when I was in Scotland, I took a bus from Aberdeen into the Highlands trying to get to the land around Balmoral Castle. The bus completely drove past my stop and so soon after I realized this, I pressed the button to the get bus to stop, and it continued for a long time after, eventually just dropping me off in the middle of nowhere at a place where there was not even a real bus stop! There is not much in the Highlands and I had to try and hitchhike to where I wanted to be and thankfully it worked hahaha!

Teach, Learn, Share

I do have a pretty good understanding of how languages work (phonetics, grammar, structure) and am pretty decent at explaining most grammar points for the languages that I know, if improving your English, Spanish, or French is something of interest, or just getting a better overview of certain languages in general. I've taken English, Spanish, French, Latin, Arabic, Persian, Linguistics, and more classes related to language throughout my time as a student so it is definitely something I geek out over!

I'm also pretty into music and grew up playing piano in violin for fun and in orchestras/chamber groups/etc, if you'd like to talk music, I think I'm pretty strong there.

I dabble in a lot though, so whatever works!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am very a friendly, easy-going, and tidy person. I cook a bit, so I wouldn't mind cooking for you a bit even if I'm not a Gordon Ramsay level chef. Following rules has never been an issue for me and I am glad to adapt to whatever you need! I have been living in shared spaces with roommates for a while, and have done quite a bit of traveling in hostel situations, so I'd say that I am quite flexible and mindful of others!
