About Me

Hi! My name is Maria, I’m a 22 year old engineering student from Chile 🇨🇱
I love going to new places, meeting new people and discovering new cultures from inside. I’m a fan of “slow travelling” so I’ve been using Worldpackers to try and travel different, and get to know places in a way i wouldn’t be able to otherwise.
Next semester I’m going on an exchange program to Lille, France, so I’m planning on travelling around France and Europe in general. So I have no plans ahead, I just know that I want to know as many places and people as I can!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because I’ve learned that it’s so different going on a trip and rushing through places from actually getting to know locals and share with people the daily life of a place! And it sounds like a great way to meet very interesting people (:

Music, Movies, and Books

I like all kinds of music! I listen to Mac Miller, Tames Impala, C. Tangana, Rusowsky, Dire Straits, Soda Stereo, Gustavo Cerati, Gorillaz, etc.

Movies I also like a bit of everything! My favorites are The Notebook, Baby Driver, movies from Quentin Tarantino, Fight Club, etc.

I read a LOT so it’s hard for me to pick my favorites, but some I’ve liked are: Little Woman, We were kids, The unbearable lightness of being, The idiot by Elif Batuman, The mailbox of the impure, The secret history, Into thin air, The picture of Dorian Gray… and I could go on an on!!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I did a basic mountaineering course and now I’m part of a mountain club, so that’s something cool I’ve done! Specially because I live in Santiago de Chile, where we’re surrounded by mountains, so it’s been so amazing to get to know my city from another perspective: by all the peaks we see daily and usually don’t even stop to look at!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Mostly good vibes! I like talking to people and knowing about their life stories, so mostly hanging out. I can also cook basic things if needed!
