Almost four years ago my world was rocked with a shocking cancer diagnosis. My baby boy's were one and three years old at the time and I was 19weeks pregnant with my baby girl.

Christmas eve 2013 I was told I had a week to decide to terminate my pregnancy so the medical team could give me the best treatment. I declined and we promptly started chemo, Dec 31st, the day before my 34th birthday.

My baby was delivered early but was and still is incredibly strong and healthy. Now nearly 3.5 years old. For over a year from the diagnosis I had very aggressive treatment, surgery, radiation and lots of chemotherapy.

Only months after finishing the treatment there was evidence it was unsuccessful. Over a year ago I was told that I am terminal and there is nothing more they can do than offer chemotherapy to manage symptoms.

For my children, you will not meet a person stronger and more determined to live.

I will not pretend it is easy. I have learned a lot about myself, about life and relationships.

There is only a shadow of my old self remaining as I transformed into a more mindful individual. The best part of my old self remains, that is my sense of adventure and love of our planet and the beautiful people that occupy it.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

During our travels we have met so many great host - I was continually overwhelmed by peoples trust and generosity. We are so greatful for our experiences and have made some life long friends.

Two years as a travelling nomad with my notes husband, some highlights:
Spent 6 weeks in Zimbabwe working on a Lion breeding/rehabilitaion project. African Impact, great cause - do it if you can.
Climbing a volcana in Guatemala - very hot!
Jumping out of a plane in New Zealand.
Swimming with Piranha and anaconda in the Amazon Jungle, Ecuador.
Diving with the beautiful creatures of the underwater world in over 50 logged dives.

General - Just smile even if people are being rude to you, it is very confusing for them and it makes you feel better.
China - Dont put your bags on the ground. The ground is for spitting and babies pee pees and poo poos!
Thailand re Ladyboys - if its too good to be true, it is!
Vietnam, Hanoi - if a hostel/guesthouse gives you a great deal on the room dont let them know if you booked a tour with another company otherwise you may be out on your ass!
UK - dont change your plans just because its cloudy/raining, the sun might just come out for a biref appearance.
