About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live in the moment.

ABOUT ME

There are times when I feel like Rip van Winkle, after sleeping 20 years under a tree. Somehow I just found myself here with only my body older and my soul left many years behind. I did have quite a dream though. But the only time which matters is this instant. Whether we are 8 or 80, the magic is only in the moment.

PHILOSOPHY

It is awfully difficult to boil down a lifetime worth of observations to a single sound bite. But if I were to try, I'd generalize the words of Hippocrates, "...to help, or at least to do no harm."

Interests

Skydiving, SCUBA, Chinese martial arts, history, geo-politics and nearly anything that challenges my mind. I enjoy engineering. It is just the right mix of left and right brains for me.

Music, Movies, and Books

In popular music, the hidden poet in me likes to be able to hear the lyrics. But some music is so profound that it speaks without them. I generally prefer melody to percussion.

I like all sorts of movies, particularly alternative films. But I can get in the mood for a Hollywood blockbuster as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I got to ambush an entire pack of coyotes on a calm summer desert night under a full moon, wearing nothing but running shoes. The startled look on their faces before they regained their composure was priceless. Humans simply never get to sneak up on a coyote, much less a pack. The universe just handed me that little gift.

Teach, Learn, Share

Well I once had the distinct honor of being a combat engineer officer in the 82nd Airborne Division. I've made over 3000 skydives. I instruct an ancient, philosophical Chinese martial art, a monk's form. I'll share what I can from those as well as other of life's experiences. I want to learn anything that I don't know.
