About Me

I'm learning all the time how to be a good mum and enjoy life as much as I can, to wake up happy every day, to accept everyone as they are to be like Mum Brady from Goa who is a happy 75 yers old couchsurfer ahhh!!! Great! Anyway - in this time of my life, I live in Paris with my beautiful 8 years old son (who wants to be a ballet dancer) and my husband Joseph and Jacques. 10 years ago I hapilly lived in Costa Rica and I was there working on my masters in migrations so basically i was a polish girl doing a reserach about Jews in Costa Rica and all this with the fund from Japan. I'm obsessed with all the minorities in the world.

Since then I write, write and write - articles (mostly for Gazeta Wyborcza, biggest polish newspaper), reportages, etc. I finished three books that are published: one about polish Jews in Costa Rica, another about mothers around the world and last one about France. All non-fiction as I’m not ready yet to write fiction. Hope it will come with age! I also dance and sing - five rhythms, open floor, gaga. And I take care of my million flowers at home.

When I was 24 I spent 2 years in the car travelling and couchsurfing through south of Europe, so now, being more stable and a mom I want to help other couchsurfers out there. I also like to my son to meet you, guys and teach him how to be more tolerant. Greece, Sicilia - I miss these places so much. When bad days are coming (and they are!!) I always close my eyes and think about them. Sarajevo stays under my eyelids forever. And Portugal - is my adoptive country.

When I was 19, i was the owner of Dodo hostel in Krakow, which was really crazy. Administration killed me and I was hosting too many people for free. It was a great time, though!

I'm really curious what life will bring me more.

PHILOSOPHY

To accept people how they are. Simple.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I hosted a lot when having a fix appartament, then it was harder cause not always I could have hosted in the hostel. the thing is also that it's definetely not the same! I enjoy having breakfast with my hosts and show them the places that they would not find alone (like the best ice creams in the world in the jewish district!).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had all those Very Special CS experiences laughing like crazy, talking seriously till the morning, drinking too much, singing Pipi Longstocking songs, having political discussions, falling in love (yesss!!!) and for sure making the best friends ever, even if it's so short... (which is a little sad part of couchsurfing).

Interests

Teaching my son about the world around, reading bad literature and reading good one, but still reading all the time (especially adventure and travelling stories from the past - ahhh these pirates and sailors!), cooking from time to time (I have some really good polish specialities to introduce you!), goin to the cinema (not only watchin movies, but goin to the cinema, I love it!), hearing people's stories from around the world or just listening to some old ladies whispering in the tram.
I forgot few more things:

Music, Movies, and Books

movies: definetely "Forrest Gump" for one scene "cause you're my girl!" and "Abouna" film from Chad which was just beautiful. but anyway every week there is some new "favourite" film comin.
music: just this month Jessie Ware, Ane Brun, The Andrew Sisters and also cause of the african-dancin: classic, rock, african, polish... ANY!
But really I can have fun with every music even Dr Alban's "It's my life" or "mallorca" or whatever :) it depends only on the mood.
Im a HUGE fan of Bonnie Tyler, Bangles, Boney M etc. And actually.. its very true! Believe or not! Ah and Bananarama also. Very true. I love alllllll disco music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As for the books: there are so many that its hard to make a list here. But for sure Pipi Longstocking would on the top of the list. Then comes "Poisonwood Bible" and recently "Under the banner of heaven. A Story of Violent Faith" - about the fundamentalists mormons brrrr. But seriously - I read ANYTHING and all the time. Can't fall asleep without at least 3 pages of a book or a paper.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

i've seen a ghost one summer. really.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to make a strawberry jam with ginger and how to bake a bread in a very humid costa rican conditions (it doesnt work all the time, but its definetelly worth trying).
I can teach you how to make a 6-braid challah bread.
Then im always happy to learn anything - the more absurd it is, the better.
