About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Les gens pressés sont déja morts - proverbe berbere (translates roughly to - if you rush through life, you're already dead))

ABOUT ME

i usually feel at home as soon as i buy a plant

PHILOSOPHY

i'd rather regret it than not doing it at all (although eating that romanian cheese fermented in a sheep's stomach proved to be regrettable)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I left Canada about 10 years ago, working and traveling around. Now that I'm back in Quebec I still live a bit of a transient life. Gardening in Montreal, teaching in the country and cross-country skiing in the morning etc. Always planning some kind of bike trip.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

many years of couchsurfing

Interests

I wrote this profile about 8 years ago but somehow many things haven't changed. I like to believe I am less of a dork but I doubt it.

Head nodding to old men (I'll wink if they wear pink converses or classy hats) Etymology. Villages with 3 houses, a musician and a grandma who cooks well. Harmonicas (sadly an eternal beginner). Tents in the middle of nowhere on a cliff with good wine and a fish grilling on a fire. Tokyo. Racing on my bike at night in Budapest when the cars have gone to bed. Wwoofing (worldwide opportunities on organic farms), back-country skiing on a sunny day with a picnic, lakes in Quebec, long bike trips, books, sharing recipes, free time, lots of it, contemporary art, dancing, photography.. more free time.

Music, Movies, and Books

Love all 3. I always try to find local artists from the region or country I am in.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Having tea with Natela, my 76 year old friend in Georgia who despite war and losing family has a constant smile, loves her wine, and would win if we had a dance-off. Having to pedal downhill because of the wind on the coast in Ireland. Ate chicken anus on a stick in Korea. Buying insane amounts of icecream with my dad, hoping my mom wouldn`t catch us.

Countries I’ve Visited

Armenia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cuba, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Morocco, Philippines, Romania, Russian Federation, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Syrian Arab Republic, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
