About Me

CURRENT MISSION
I no longer live in London I am now in Cheltenham UK.
I have been hosting for nearly ten years with a few breaks. Things have changed over that time and cs is also more popular. The ethos has also changed and I am older. I am happy to host genuine travellers but if you are looking for a free bed forget it. I have had a few requests from people asking to stay for weeks, months or forever!!!!!!!
These days I have a partner Andy too to consider and of course Skippy the cat. I have a serious job monday to friday and can try and do stuff in the evenings but weekends are better. Can always advise if working.

ABOUT ME

Just a warning- I have a cat Skippy who likes jumping on people and sleeping on their heads if she get the chance, she is very cute but if you don't like cats is probably better for you to look for another host.

I'm 50 this year!!!! I have a demanding but rewarding job and a good social network. I enjoy travelling, socialising, reading, meeting people, theatre, film etc. I am a larger than life sort of person, interested in anything really. I do a lot of cycling and travelling when I can. If you like gardening you can help!

PHILOSOPHY

Cest la vie. If you don't try you don't know. Never regret anything, just learn from mistakes!
live your life to the full - it won't last for ever

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Mostly I host, answer questions people email me about London, occasionally I go to CS meetings and have met people from CS on my travels. Sometimes I meet up with people for a drink or looking around London if I have time. I have lived here for 30 years so know it well.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Over the years particularly when young and skint have benefitted from the couches and kindness of others so would like to repay.
So far have hosted more than 70 people from quite a few different countries and met up with quite a few others for a coffee or a drink.
I recently surfed in Italy with people who I had met through CS and had a wonderful time.

Interests

Many different things. Spend a lot of time playing scrabble, travelling etc

Music, Movies, and Books

films - I like Pedro Almadovar films, independent films, anything a bit different, not reallly into mainstream block busters but having said that enjoyed Slumdog- maybe I should go and see more.
And of course BARBARELLA if you behave well I may even let you watch it being as I have a huge tv that I rarely watch.
I would like to have more time to watch art films etc and also to read.
Music - a bit of this and that. Don't like music thats too loud these days, never really got to like jungle and hip hop - maybe it's my age! Maybe I need educating?
Books - last book I really enjoyed was Marukami, The Wind Up Bird Chronicles so currently trying out Japanese authors. Also like Amy Tan, Dan Rhodes and other contemporary ficton or factual things.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Some I can't mention in public. Lots of adventures like hitching a lift on the dieasel boat in the middle of the night from somewhere in Panama to Bocas De Torros or spending a night with nomads when I couldn't find my compound in the dark in Africa, scuba diving and snorkelling, seeing a baby Turtles in Sri Lanka and the oranutangs of Borneo- there are many. I'm lucky
2015 I just cycled the london to brighton
Seeing my friends kids and grandkids growing up
