About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Experiences and wonder (wow, does that ever sound corny. true though)

ABOUT ME

I’m 21, easy going, pretty left wing and environmentally conscious but nowhere near what I should be, a committed atheist. Mucking about and lazing around with people are probably my favorite things to do. And eating, and sleeping, and reading and music and seeing wonderful things. Sometimes I think I have a 16 year old boy’s sense of humor (when I hang out with my brother and his friends who are brilliant) but maybe we all do, I mean when will ‘ya mum’ and ‘that’s what she said’ ever get old? Not soon. My youngest friend is 3 and a half and my oldest is in his 70s so I have a good variety of people to enjoy. I really love my life and friends in Oz which is why I thought it would be time for an adventure on my own – before I get too comfortable, you know? And most of it will still be here when I get back. I’m at art school but I also write short stories.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

This is my toedipping into couch surfing, but I really like the idea. I am about to go live in Canada for a semester and then travel so I thought it would be useful to find places to stay, and when I get back I can have surfers and their stories over here, I figure it just a step over from the hitchhikers who we find (one gave us the best pasta idea, but i think I have forgoten it). It’s always more interesting to get to know the locals and their view of the place.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couching is great, I have done it to travel, to avoid the commute to school or the trek home. It has saved me many times. The worst was couchless when two friends and I had to sleep on a kitchen floor, under a bin, with a only blanket between us and our bags for pillows. It was the dead of winter with the windows jammed open and we were too cold to sleep at all. I ended up paying my housemate to sleep on my back I was so cold . I am not looking forward to the day when I’m too grown up to do that sort of thing; low standards of accommodation make life so much more interesting.
