ABOUT ME

I live in a single room, in a listed and listing building just within the center of amsterdam where i indulge my passions for music, food, good company and books.

PHILOSOPHY

to believe in everything i do and never read cookery books. or, the future is a wonderous and exciting place to head for.

Interests

passions for music keeps me young, books make me think, people make me alive, travel makes me wise (reputedly) and food and drink just make me fat (and happy).

Music, Movies, and Books

developed a love of reggae in the cellars in west of london before we learned to distrust one another for far too trivial reasons and have never grown out of it, some might say up....and the rest is history...but a living history.....

.....and if you insist on a list: bowie...the original...because he is different, orwell..."even the chocolate did not taste the same anymore", black and white, huxley, mark twain, port for winter evenings, gin with my friends, tamara de lempicka because of the boundaries she pushed, khatte chhole, blue monday, the grandmaster F, bo diddley, etta james, rohinton mistry, art deco, cheese, reggae, the clash, massive attack, fine assam tea (always warm the pot), primal scream, voltaire, the warmth of charles rennie mackintosh, the vision of Frank Lloyd Wright, my grandma, travelling by train, science...try asking me about multiple parallel universes, ginger and corriander, "warm soapy" beer...if you've drunk it you know what i mean, dub reggae, any depp or jarmusch movie...better still together, million dollar baby, billy holliday, mod style, e-types, Dr No, green onions, the photos of bailey, donnovan, horst, pennie smith and man ray, the works of picaso, turner, and caravaggio....dirty funky 70's NY soul... ......and have just developed a serious loe affair with italian coffee......

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

the first time i really saw the sunlight playing on the leaves of a tree...a long story, a volcano exploding under water in hawaii, the clash live, the sunrising over europe from the top of mont blanc, the hanging stars in the thar desert, the journey from the Blitz to the ROxY and the crushing silence in the middle atlas mountain wildernesses,
