About Me
CURRENT MISSION
to see the world!
ABOUT ME
I've been living in Europe for a few years now: France for an Erasmus year, Germany and Austria for a Masters, Switzerland for work... and now back in Austria! I've loved living here, and am looking forward to staying for a bit longer. I currently work in the research department of an international organization, focusing on migration issues (of people, not birds!) ;) I *love* traveling, and especially meeting people from the places I travel and hearing about the place from them--which is why couchsurfing appeals to me so much! I love a good laugh and meeting new people, am easygoing, and am pretty sarcastic...love dark humor and sarcastic people, but I can get along with pretty much anyone! I'm up for a crazy night out partying, a quieter night out, or even a simple night in.
PHILOSOPHY
Stop looking back, you'll miss what's right in front of you. I feel like you can use this philosophy for any area of your life
and
"One's life has value so long as one attributes value to the life of others, by means of love, friendship, indignation and compassion." Simone de Beauvoir
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I had the most amazing couchsurfing experiences all over Europe...my favorites were couchsurfing in Cologne during Karnivale, and in Vienna with someone who was able to tell us amazing things about the city and its history and took us around to places that i would never have seen otherwise!

Music, Movies, and Books
I love reading, but don't get the chance to read as much as I'd like...I've recently gotten into all the Agatha Christie books, currently reading a book of short stories, and am working my way through "A People's History of the US", and have an enormous bookcase that I keep adding more books to than I have the time to get through!!
I'm a total baby when it comes to movies...i get scared way too easily! But a small pick of movies (I could never pick a favorite): The Life of David Gale, Center Stage, Rent, Les Parapluies de Cherbourg, X-men, Love Actually, Office Space, Tommy Boy, the Boondock Saints, Philadelphia, Incredibles, Kill Bill, Persepolis, Juno...(pretty much everything)
my music taste is equally eclectic (i can find something i like in EVERY genre) but i totally got into techno and house when i was abroad and am now getting into classical because the scene in Leipzig and Vienna is amazing!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I get lost at least once in every city (and even more often in cities I live in). I have no clue how i do it, but I actually don't mind because sometimes you get to see awesome crazy things off the beaten path
also: ziplining through a rainforest in Costa Rica, camping from Arizona up through Utah and Wyoming and Idaho (got to see the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone), Carnivale in Koln, St Paddy's Day in Dublin, drinking wine in the Beaujolais fields outside of Lyon, camping in the middle of the desert in Jordan.
Teach, Learn, Share
I really want to set up a tandem--I want to learn German and I think I would be a good English teacher
