About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Living the good life - A LA MODE
ABOUT ME
Easy going, professional, adventurous, serious, curious, happy, nice guy.
I am a Swedish guy who moved to Hoboken, NJ in 2005. I've been a nomadic worker for a year in 2007. Now I'm back in NYC - living in Astoria with my wife.
Astoria is the unknown gem of Queens - diverse and clean, cheap and thrilling, safe and fun at the same time. We have more interesting new eateries than any other borough right now if you trust TimeOut et.al. Check us out!
PHILOSOPHY
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
-but-
Do one thing every day that scares you.
I'm very easy going, as long as people aren't assholes.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've shown a bunch of people the sounds and sights (and drinks) of Stockholm and London during over the year. BUT, right now I am busy in NYC so don't email me about couchsurfing in Stockholm or London. :-)
I've hosted a couple of Couchsurfers, so I guess I'm halfway to becoming a genuine CS'er. Just need to surf somewhere myself... any suggestions?
Create your own visitor map!
Happy to meet up in NYC, and share my gems and secret spots. Or find new ones.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Before joining CS, I've only ever shared my couches with friends or friends-of-friends, but I read a very inspiring story in a Swedish newspaper and Couchsurfing seemed like a great way to add a bite of spice to life.
I've stayed on many couches and gotten to know great people that way, long before joining this community. First time I visited the US way back in the mid-1990s I stayed with complete strangers in St Charles, Missouri, and later I "surfed" with friends of a friend near Manly Beach, Australia. Not to mention staying the occasional night with friends, en route somewhere else...
Interests

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm suprised how much I enjoyed Avatar in 3D. But - relax people - it is only a movie...
Good Movies: Män som hatar kvinnor/Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and (somewhat) #2 and (very much!) #3. That Rollergirl movie by Drew Barrymore was pleasant. District 9 was ok, too. Monsters + aliens + dystopy = win. He's just not that into you... I was just not all that into, I guess.
2008: Juno. Also seen Young@Heart, Definitely Maybe, Let the Right One in, and some of the latest Hollywood crop... 2007: Little Miss Sunshine?
Just saw Cole Porter's Anything Goes - hopelessly dated but WOW! what a tap-dance number!
Previous: FELA! on Broadway. That, my friend, is how history should be taught in school! South Pacific. Kristina at Carnegie Hall. Robyn live at Highline in January '08. Or maybe Sahara Hotnights at Knitting Factory in March. Stevie Wonder at Jones Beach. 70s disco divas, Van Halen, ...everyone plays New York, it seems. And then all the music I get to be part of making myself.
Recommended books include: The Millenium trilogy by Stieg Larsson. But I hear the English translation is cr*p.
Recently plowed through The Road. Meh.
John Ajvide Lindqvist's Låt den rätte komma in. Scariest book in a long long time. Learn Swedish & read it - its worth it. Or have a look at the english translation. The transfer to cinema in "Let the Right One In" is good, but the book is awesome.
Often, I decide to rediscover my favourites. "Was nicht zweimal lesenswert gewesen, Das war nicht einmal lesenswert."
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Spain, Uk, Greece, France, Italy, Monaco, USA, Ireland, Czech Republic, Holland, Thailand, Tunisia, Portugal, Switzerland, Poland, Canada, Australia, Cuba, US Virgin Islands, Singapore, Bali - they all had something unique to offer. How can I pick one!?
Teach, Learn, Share
I tried Capoeira this summer. I really should've kept doing it.
I wish I knew more languages. Anyone have a Spanish Rosetta Stone to lend me?
I have recently had more time to create things with my bare hands. I love it.
I've taught sales people how to sell stuff that doesn't exist, college sorority members about personal safety and self defense, and a six year old how to build paper airplanes.
