About Me

Self-description is a form of onanism. So let’s get it done quick.

My goal in life is to retire at 40 to spend more time in the garden and less time in front of the computer. To achieve this, I cut on the cost of living by conducting my own little austerity program. Less comfort = more adventure.

Pour les Français qui ne parlent pas la langue du pouvoir et de l’argent : Je suis un garçon simple qui se contente de peu tout en cherchant à retirer le maximum de la vie. Le rire occupe une place centrale dans mon existence.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Music, Movies, and Books

Music : Almost anything from sweaty progressive stoner metal jams to sugary catchy pop tunes, but I listen mostly to electronic, post-punk, classical, jazz, and soul. I also love saxophone more and more every day. Maybe this is what you call maturity.

Books : Michel Houellebecq, Roberto Bolano, Herman Hesse, Stefan Zweig, Witold Gombrowicz, Philip K. Dick, the Stoics, Raymond Carver, H.P. Lovecraft, etc. I'm a bit of a literary snob. I even disavowed my own novel.

Movies: Like a total nerd, I did a list of my 30 favorite movies for my 30th year of life. Without further ado, here it is: Adaptation, Amour, Blade Runner, C’est arrivé près de chez vous, Days of Heaven, Dead Man, Dogville, Gaz Bar Blues, Gravity, Grizzly Man, Heat, Ida, It’s a Wonderful Life, J’ai tué ma mère, La bataille d’Alger, La Dolce Vita, La Jetée, Le charme discret de la bourgeoisie, The Seventh Continent, Le Trou, Lost In Translation, Love Exposure, My Diner With Claude, Paths of Glory, Princess Mononoké, Pulp Fiction, Stranger Than Paradise, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Empire Strikes Back, The Graduate, The Lobster. Did you really read it to the end?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I learned to burp at 23 yrs old. It changed my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have an eternal thirst for knowledge and DIY. Shove it down my throat.

I can teach French, bread baking, cider making, basic bike repairs, trivia knowledge. That's about it. Don't expect more.
