About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To enjoy life and the paths that it takes you on

ABOUT ME

Well, we are now three! We have just welcomed our new baby into the world, and life just gets more interesting!
In the process of finally moving onto the land, 'la tierra' and creating ourselves a slice of paradise in the totara trees by the river. Our vision of hammocks, pixie grottos, magical glades and meadows, swimming in the river, catching eels, planting orchards, feeding the chickens, ducks and piggies...maybe a donkey, regenerating the forest and pottering in our organic garden is soon to become our reality..... along with the work of course! We will definetly be welcoming WOOFERS from Spring if you are interested!

PHILOSOPHY

Always be a teacher AND a learner.

Even the tiniest action or sight or words or smile or gift or gesture can make a HUGE difference to someone else or to the world. So go for it, we are the instruments of change and choose our own melody.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We love meeting new people! I have always grown up with a houseful of people coming and going. When anyone needs a place to crash or some relaxed and interesting (if a little crazy at times) company. Nuestro casa es su casa!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had an amazing time in Amsterdam and was put up by the lovely Anna and Roman, met a few people in chile, had an incredible few days in Indonesia with the crew there, and now am looking forward to being on the hosting side of things and to meeting many more of you! I have had issues with getting emails through from CS, so my reply rate is low, but if you send me a message, it should be coming through now, and I'll try my hardest to get back to you!

Interests

Permaculture, I love growing food, and observing how everything, people, animals, plants, soil, elements, 'creepy' crawlies function as one collective organism.
Laughing, Smiling, Teaching and learning.
I enjoy nothing more than sitting around a fire with new and old friends, chatting, playing music and having a laugh.
Walking (not running!) anywhere, jumping of rocks into Rivers, looking for crabs at the beach, camping, making huts in the bush, cooking on fires, getting bowled over by big waves.....STORMS...climbing trees, the noises that mud makes when you squelch it between your toes.

Young people, old people, in between people.

Gines is a photographer and cameraman, he is passionate about animals and interesting plants and people, and is also a dive instructor, traveller, has a brilliant laugh and is dreaming of making some beautiful documentaries.

So much more, but you will have to visit to know!

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Amelie is my favourite film, and im open to most things that have a good storyline. I like historical and cultural based on true story kinda stuff, not a collection of random and impossible 'entertainment value' bollucks. Extreme contempt for reality TV.

Books: The Bone People (NZ author, worth a read if you come across it, The Celestine Prophecy, A fortune Teller Told Me....... millions

Music: World music, reggae, jazz, soul, anything really, other than hard core gangster rapping and punk. Ben Harper, Portishead, Alpha Blondy, Katchafire, The Black Seeds, Cornerstone Roots, old favorites Paul Simon,Tracey Chapman, Mr.Marley of course, Peter Tosh, too big a list.......

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Went camel trekking in the desert between pakistan and Jaisalmere. Sand dunes, sun, fire, good food, goats and donkeys, tiny villages, bagillions of stars, desert sunsets and rises, chillum, and a little camel rash, ahhh you cant go wrong with that!
Explored my own country with a beautiful friend living in our van.
Having our son Costa and becoming a wee family :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to learn about everything! I am interested in creative things...if you can make anything I am always up for giving it a go!
I can teach you a bit about permaculture, about some of the stories of Aotearoa, how to weave a few bits and pieces out of flax, about teaching children. Gines is into photography, wildlife, diving and filming. We are very happy just to share any knowledge and experiences with you.
