I mostly host friends/friends of friends and folks coming through the DC area to check out the city that need a day or two to crash. Cannot do long term (unless there is some sort of au pair/nanny/childcare situation but I've never actually explored this since I don't have private accommodation). If you don't have any references or don't take the time to make a complete profile please share a bit about yourself if you request to stay with me.

My couch (in the main and busy area) in my living room is most likely available. If you're comfortable with the chaos of young children who like to wake early and run downstairs to speak to you, one bathroom, fluffy australian shepherd dogs, and a quiet basement cat then you are welcome in my space! My partner, when home, somehow keeps the space clean and tidy. We are just south of Old Town Alexandria Virginia, along the GW Parkway and mount vernon trail and closest to the Yellow line - Huntington metro. My partner is a sarcastic, brainy and genuinely kind human and I am generally spontaneous exceptionally laid back (have ridiculous work hours to a job I am lucky enough to consider a calling) and up for anything like playing outside in the sun snow or rain, exploring water/hikes, cozy little dives loud shows or misc. wearhouse parties and a night of dancing. I like nipping down to Richmond or popping up to Baltimore on some impromptu nights. We have a bus stop just a few steps away and can most likely drive you where you like/need to be, just ask! -Camilla

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To connect with friends, new and old! To create those missed connections and connect with other wayward souls. Currently, I can only offer a couch or if several folks, the floor next to the couch in a cozy family environment.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm quiet(with big opinions), laid back, warm, and tidy. Can connect socially, tag along, or enjoy exploring on my own. Usually have a rough itinerary. I love taking my hosts out to proper meals or a good beer for their hospitality during my visit. I prefer connection with people then that of the sterile rentals (I travelled for the Department of State and that was maddening/boring) and in return have bartered cooking/pet wrangling/herbal knowledge (for wise women)/snowboarding/surfing/music/knitting/crafting..and as my practice has grown over the years..baby catching!
I sometimes enjoy traveling with my littles on appropriate adventures so they can be well rounded little humans full of respect for your space and reverence for earth/land/human connection.
