About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Laughter.

ABOUT ME

Eternally curious. Relaxed. Open. Peacefully enjoying life, wherever her currents toss me...

I'm the kind of person who (when i happen to play video games for some strange reason) gets sidetracked exploring all the nooks and crannies and places the designers didn't really think most people would go...

Me walking down the street: "Ok, it's time to go! We have... oooo! shiney!" And I go Dumpster Diving. I've gotten some fantastic furniture out of the trash lately. Ok, that was random, I know.

I see beauty everywhere. I just can't help it.

(excerpt from a letter following a recent trip)

I just landed back in the land of the living at the amazing house of a couchsurfing host in Asheville, NC...
just dropped of the mountain, out of the clouds, and into a city. Vibrant, human life, pulsing around me.
I liked it in the clouds.
It was raining.. i hiked the Linville Falls trail and stood in the majesty of that sight.. the crashing water twisting through the ancient stones... massive, powerful.. i cannot describe... i stood there in the rain and laughed..
laughed with the lightness and heaviness and joy of it all.
I have already forgotten how to talk to people. I have been talking to trees. I touched each one whose presence speaks to me as i pass. I touch the rocks. I wiggle my toes in the sludge at the bottom of the creeks.
and i laugh

i came around the side of Mt. Mitchell, 5000 feet up, and drove into a cloud. the sun was setting, and i drove into foggy darkness... closing in on all sides, 35 miles of pushing back the mist with feeble lights, a few feet at a time, non stop winding curves, edge of the mountain.. a most otherworldly feeling.

PHILOSOPHY

life is beautiful.

beauty produces pain and pain produces beauty.

everybody hurts... and everybody wants to be healed.

some people offer excitement, some offer rest.

and some offer some of each.

i want to be one of the latter.

(i could think of a more poetic way of saying all this... but that's for another day, eh?)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I joined Couchsurfing in Lovely Birmingham, AL, more as an amusing friend in the city than a host. Now I am in Even More Lovely Greenville, SC, and am looking for my fellow couchsurfers to go exploring with...

My couch will be open for surfing on many weekends.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

i don't remember a time when i didn't lead a fairly open life, bouncing around randomly here, there, and yonder. (yes, i said "yonder". I'm a southerner. i can do that.) but i have kids now, and they do slow me down quite a bit.

I've stayed with people, hosted people, explored with people, had coffee with people, played tour guide to people, and played with small fuzzy animals.

er...

yeah.
