ABOUT ME
I have been lucky enough to 'grow up' in Athens, Georgia, an oasis of blue (liberal haven) in a sea of red (redneck, racist Republicans). Athens is the home of REM, B52's, Indigo Girls, Widespread Panic, Of Montreal, Drive By Truckers, STS9, Neutral Milk Hotel, Olivia Tremor Control and hundreds of other bands. Oh yeah, the University of Georgia and its 35,000 students are here too.
After participating as a smoothie vendor on the six-week HORDE tour in 1993, I returned to Athens and started Righteous Juice. It is still here in 2011.
I always jump on every opportunity I have to see new places, and to date have visited 49 of 50 US States and over 35 countries.
UPDATE: In 2012 I 'liquidated' my juice biz, no pun intended (ok maybe a little one) and bought a one-way ticket out of the US. After traveling around Europe for a few months I ended up in Romania, for three years.)) Since July of 2015 I have been teaching for American English Center, for one year in Kyiv and now in Odessa.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Networking is what it's all about for me. I tell peeps about the $2 pints at the brewpub on Tuesday in Athens and the coolest bars and restaurants. I always appreciate that kind of info from CS'ers in places I visit.
Generally I am much more fond of participating in the Activities and Groups portion of CS than actually surfing one's couch.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
When I joined CS there were around 30,000 members. There are currently over 6 million. My first CS experience was in December of 2004 on the BIG Island of Hawaii. My most recent was in July 2012 in Poland.

Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto
Narrow to only one? Impossible!
***Flew from Atlanta to Budapest in July, 2011, for what was supposed to be an 18-day trip. Ended up staying over five months, traveling from Budapest to Ireland to Latvia to Istanbul. Didn't get home until December. It changed my life forever, for the better.
***Watched the sunset over Rio from the balcony of my suite on the final night of a 15-day cruise. The sunset lasted over an hour, with the horizon constantly changing as the ship moved.
***Hiked for 11 miles on the Na Pali cliffs of Kauai, Hawaii. My legs still hurt when I look at the pix.
***Got married and spent my honeymoon in the John and Yoko Suite of the Amsterdam Hilton. Marriage didn't last but the experience was a blast.
