About Me

When the weather permits, taking walks (usually with my dog Mieko), hiking some of Seoul's many mountains, or just being outside to snap some photos, are a few of my favorite past times.

I love experiencing a new culture...Especially through food! Before Asia I was a bit of a picky eater, and thankfully Korea broke me of that. I enjoy trying new foods and few things are better in life than good food with good people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I heard about this while staying with a friend of a friend who turned out to be an avid CS host; he had great things to say about it. And after staying with him, and later another CS, I can see why! Great concept that seems to do an excellent job of bringing together a bunch of relatively like-minded people.

Interests

I'm currently studying international development and really enjoy learning about social enterprises, local entrepreneurs, and NGOs in the areas I visit.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a pretty broad range of interests and love learning what other people are passionate about. Aspiring avid reader (don't ever read as much as I should though) and always happy to get suggestions for new things to read or listen to. For books, I especially enjoy nonfiction (economics, alternative development) and memoirs.

For movies, I enjoy documentaries (especially ones I can download and listen to on long dog walks!) and dramas, but will also be the one sitting in a center seat on opening night of any Marvel/DC or Star Wars film.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Zip-lining in Laos; I usually pride myself on being a pretty thrifty traveler, but some things are worth splurging on. Zip-lining over stories-high treetops in the middle of a national park was a far more exhilarating AND peaceful experience than I could have ever imagined.
