ABOUT ME

Hey there.

Canadian-American dual citizen here. I've lived in Calgary, Alberta and Dallas, Texas but have spent most of my life residing in the dirty south--specifically the Greater Atlanta area of Georgia.

Currently, I live in Blacksburg, VA as I have just recently graduated from Virginia Tech with a bachelor's degree in psychology and philosophy. I miss the big city of Atlanta but the quaint, small-town feel of Blacksburg has grown on me.

My plans as a recent graduate are to take a couple years off before pursuing graduate school and travel whenever I am not working during that time.

Over this past summer I have been working as a Tutor/Counselor for Upward Bound. Upward Bound is a program funded by the U.S. Department of Education and is designed to encourage and prepare low-income high school students to become first-generation college students. Upward Bound accomplishes this goal through educational, cultural, and social experiences.

During the school-year I work as one of the coordinators for the local suicide prevention hotline and as a research assistant for one of the psychology labs at Virginia Tech.

Maybe we will meet someday. Maybe we won't. But I hope we do indeed cross paths on this journey we call life--the never-ending story!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I really want to meet locals from the countries I go to instead of other travelers at hostels. If someone wants to have me over, I'm not looking to completely monopolize their time, but I'm not just looking for a place to just crash either - I'd prefer to hang out with them, talk, and have some genuine interaction. If someone is just offering a place to crash, it's appreciated but it's not why I am doing couch surfing.

And I'd like to emphasize that I am by no means a freeloader. I am all about reciprocity, whether its direct or serial reciprocity. Paying-it-forward is the pebble that starts the ripple-effect. I look forward to hosting people in small town Blacksburg, VA or in my hometown of Atlanta, GA once I move back there.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I climbed the Great Wall of China outside of Beijing with my chinese friends who were delighted to share the experience with us, claiming that we brought the good fortune of the beautiful snowy weather we had. It hasn't snowed in China that much in over 50 years.
