About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Three missions before I die: Open up a vegan nightclub/restuarant. Set up an alternative and not for profit teacher and language training centre. Be featured on suicidegirls.com.

ABOUT ME

As I hate this kind of thing, I'll use a friend's description of me.
"Well, there's Liz. Drinks like a paddy, swears like a sailor, behaves like she's permnamently on speed, and probably doesn't weigh more than 90 pounds in a wet sweater"

An alternative is from a facebook quiz:
'Which crazy bitch are you?' and my result was Courtney Love (quelle surprise) which means..

'You are one wild bitch. You love trouble and trouble loves you. You like to have a good time and won't let anyone get in your way. Sometimes you seem like you are perpetually trapped in a childhood mentality and you take alot of flack from alot of people for your carefree ways. Nevertheless you care alot about the people close to you and if anyone messes with you or the ones you love, you will fuck them up. You can rock out with the best of them and won't let anyone tell you otherwise. You are this perfect balance between girly chick and tough chick. You are blatantly honest and sometimes people can find this a little hard to take but you really don't give a shit. .'

Make of that what you will but at least it's far more interesting (and arguably more accurate) than

'I'm open minded and easy going. I like travelling and meeting people'.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm not a concept. I'm a fucked up girl looking for some peace of mind.

Tough times never last but tough people do. How very fucking apt.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I can provide a cool and comfortable flat wherever I'm living which has changed quite radically since I joined CS in 2007.

I'm a crap tour guide but I'm up for exploring and having adventures when I'm not working or hungover.

I like a beer or a few so those who have that in common are more than welcome to stay. Also, if you're up for clubbing and live music, then this is even better.

Not massively in the CS community per se. It's all a bit of bollocks to be honest. I just love meeting good people, that's all. And, I'm a bit over the hostelling and sightseeing thing for myself so CS has provided a great solution.

No city tours please..I travel with the Lonely Planet which is often a waste of space in my backpack. I'd like to know and experience what you get up to when you're not working or studying or doing whatever.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Once upon a time, there was a girl in Dullmascus with a flat with a cool terrace and feeling a bit bored there. Her friend told her all about Couchsurfing, she wrote a profile and then..well that's how it all started in April 2007.

Back to 2009..

So far have managed to host some really nice guests from a variety of places who have put up with either my mad work schedule or my car crash weekends. I'm dead picky with profiles and because of that I actually feel like I've made friends with people who I'd be more than happy to meet again.

I never have actually been hosted by someone through couch surfing but have slept on various random couches in the world through default or drunkeness!ù

Update...the above is still true and I even surfed my own couch when I think someone in the upstairs flat was having vigourous sex. And when my flat in DF was fumigated because of bed bugs.

Back to the CS stuff though...was hosted by Hans in Amsterdam, Brecht in Bruges, Rossi in Sofia which included a lovely night with the Sofia CS group, Smolantov (Justin) in Vileko Turnivo (though he's a pre CS friend so does that count?) and Dessi and Fillip also in Sofia. I used to have a bit of a surfing fear, but now I quite like it and I'm not asking permission to use the toilet or apologising incessently; Some progress there...

I've been using CS quite a bit...had lots of fun in Antwerp and of course there was my one month on Balkan madness where I stayed with Sanja, Diane and Tanja in Belgrade who were all cool and strong women. Was put up by Gorilla in Zagreb. A person, not an animal.
And of course, DJ Christian Peak in Novi Sad.

And the CS story continues...I stayed with Danny in Praha followed by Pawel in Krakow and just so you don't think I only stay with boys - Sveta and Valeria in Kiev.

In Mexico, I sometimes travel with friends who are..WOW..not on CS so we find our own accomodation or during the holidays so it's difficult. But..I have stayed with some cool folk in San Cristobal..Mac and also with Kai. Loved it. And with Luis and Paola in Morelia..my weekend in the provinces.

If I'm outside DF for work, I'll definitely bother you to make sure I have a life outside work where I want to drink, discuss changing the world and no banal questions, please!

Whose couch is next?? Maybe yours?

Interests

I love talking bollocks (rubbish/nonsense) to lots of people. I love political discussions and I'm not easy going and open minded in this respect. If I don't like your views..you'll know.

When I'm not being shy, complete strangers who I've been known to talk to like a lifelong friend.

I like laughing and in the right company, I will lots! Usually at mine and your expense. I'm a bitch but lovely too ;)

Exploring new cities by myself or with others..I can really walk for hours and hours. And very quickly!

Travelling, but that goes without saying on couch surfers.

Shopping! Especially at flea markets and quirky little one off shops. Got a thing about home decoration right now as I've just got new flat.

Cooking food and drinking wine - though I'm never sure if wine is to accompany the food, or food is to accompany the wine!

I love going out for drinking and dancing...if the music's what I like. I've been known to dance to shite music but I don't enjoy it. Even when drunk or trying to excuse it with irony.

Now and again...going to the mountains, sometimes the sea. Now and again are the key words here. I feel uncomfortable spending long hours in 'the nature'.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - lots of indie/electro/noise/techno.
I'm an original grunge chick from the 1900's. I am a true riot grrl. I love my dyke rock. I wish I was in a girl punk band. I love post rock too
I'm slowly modernising with the help of myspace, my friends and of course last.fm. Check out my list on
http://www.last.fm/listen/old_skool_grrrl

Films - favourites include Withnail and I, Fight Club, Babel, Requiem for a Dream and Battle Royale because I'm a sick puppy.

Books - I'll read anything which is a bit different and gets me thinking.

Favourite magazines - Bizarre and FHM so if you have a copy handy then I'll be a happy surfer indeed :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Travelled, worked and lived in a fair few places - seen amazing sights and met some really cool people who I would have never met if I had never left the UK.

I should by all rights be dead. I have lived to tell the tale despite being accident prone, underweight, zero sense of direction and challenged at languages.

Now that really is amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love talking and meeting people, and finding something new to learn. There's been a lot of people around who have taught me everything I know.

I can advise anyone who wants to take a CELTA so they can have a life of living abroad of which I've done for 14 years now.

Oh yes, kind of not interested in people who want to 'practice English'. I'm over that and its my job. Mistakes are cool and kind of hot.

Countries I’ve Visited

Bulgaria, Cambodia, Canada, Croatia, Cuba, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Germany, Guatemala, Ireland, Jordan, Latvia, Lebanon, Lithuania, Montenegro, Nepal, Netherlands, Portugal, Serbia, Spain, Thailand, Turkey, United States, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In

Belgium, Japan, Mexico, Poland, Russian Federation, Syrian Arab Republic, United Kingdom
