About Me

CURRENT MISSION

The exploration words, the nature of things, and the intersection thereof.

ABOUT ME

I think green is my favorite color. My current top five words are: sate, drench, structure, susurrous, and callipygian. I'm in interim right now, shelved between educations. Music self played is happiness, self made. I like the letters that fountain pens make, but I don't like the stains they leave on my fingers. I have a mild allergic reaction to early mornings. Dogs are the best company you can ask for, but they smell kinda bad. New Hampshire has the best slogan in the nation (this is not opinion, it is objective fact). I am very fond of hats, but only keep one at a time. Everything tastes better when you're five miles from the nearest road. Slow and steady wins the race, but fast and steady wins it faster (I guess). I've had the same pair of boots for seven years now, and it's one of the most important relationships in my life. I love peanut butter. A lot. I can dance spontaneously, on command, or with a partner. I can fill a webternet profile with platitudes and hopefully give a stranger an idea of what kind of goofball I am.

PHILOSOPHY

Truth in story inspires empathy and understanding, and I strive to generate such stories, and inspire empathy in others.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm getting to know the local CS community while I get myself in a position to participate more fully.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Hosted a close friend, and she showed me to some tremendously magnificent CS events.

My favorite was a simple CS party in Jamaica Plain, planned not more than twenty-four hours earlier, but attended by nearly two dozen vivacious and driven souls. Wine, dance, song, story, sudden friendship. All was well.

Interests

Conniferous trees, germanic words, myth, pedagogy, musical improvisation, tragic catharsis, penning stories, walking, living.

Music, Movies, and Books

I can do five each, I guess.

Movies: The Fisher King, Brazil (and basicaly everything Gilliam), Wonder Boys, Until the End of the World, Eternal Mindshine of the Sunless Spot (did I get that right?)

Music: Sunday at the Village Vanguard (Bill Evans Trio), Built on Squares(Starlight Mints), Her Majesty (The Decemberists), Whatever and Ever Amen (Ben Folds Five), El Oso (Soul Coughing)

Books: Nine Stories (J.D. Salinger), The Things They Carried (Tim O'Brien), The Iliad (Homer), Othello (Shakespeare), Coraline (Neil Gaiman)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I took a 360 degree panorama from the summit of a twelve thousand foot mountain once, and I think I'm yet to top that.

Teach, Learn, Share

Snow is the best natural substitute for toilet paper.
