About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I'm on the search for the old and the new, history and new places, great experiences and a fun journey.

ABOUT ME

I'm creative and naturally curious about many things; the stories people have to tell as well as those about places. I love history, old buildings, interesting geography, museums, galleries, good conversations. I sort of have two names so if you meet any of my friends you might hear them calling me Celdae. (hard C) :)

I'm more about getting the feel of a place through the history and people and not big on the malls and shops as every city has them. I love dancing and unique places.

My passion is writing, with a heavy emphasis on speculative fiction and poetry. I'm published but have not yet sold a novel, and I edit for Chizine Publications. http://chizinehub.com/

I have this romantic image of being in Europe, siting at a cafe and drinking wine (or absinthe) while writing about my adventures. I also find that to get a true sense of a place and to really enjoy it is to interact with the locals. My best memories of Ireland are when we were chatting with people.

I believe very strongly in honesty and integrity and open communication. You can check out my blog at www.colleenanderson.wordpress.com

PHILOSOPHY

Live life with passion. Try (almost) everything once, and it's all a learning experience. :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm new to this so the couch will be where I start my investigations. I have already hosted my first surfer and I think we'll have a friendship even from that one encounter. The world should be a global village.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was recently in Texas for a convention and stayed at a publisher's house for the night before the convention. It was a great experience and a wonderful way to get to know some of the people in the writing world.

Interests

Hiking, dancing, bellydancing, history, medieval anything, arts in many forms.

Music, Movies, and Books

Of course I love my speculative fiction (SF, fantasy, dark, etc.) but I'm also interested in books about how the world works, history, medieval art, etc. Music is a bit all over the map but falls into alternative or just interesting. Not so big on the C&W or the acid rock. :)
Movies I like my mind candy (but not chick flicks!) and dramas. However, the really traumatic films I sometimes find hard to watch because I'm pulled in too deep. I love Greenaway's films though I don't think he's done anything lately.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have been to Meghalaya, one of India's seven tribal states. I got to hear a lot about their culture, watch several traditional ceremonies and see the Himalayan mountains. They are a matrilineal society so it's interesting to see how that works.

Teach, Learn, Share

Everyone has a tale to tell and lessons we can learn from. I can give you some bellydance lessons if I have time.

Countries I’ve Visited

Bahamas, Cuba, India, Ireland, Mexico, Nepal, Singapore, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Canada
