ABOUT ME

I grew up in Montreal, moved to Western Canada for 7 years of school, outdoor work, and play, and I'm just getting over the parallel 7 year hump of being back in Montreal (for work). I teach outdoor education in a community college, climb, paddle, read, cook, and try to soak up as much culture. The work schedule is excellent; travels abound!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Lots of informal surfing in Western Canada. I grew up in a family where people were always welcome (my parents were almost aggressive in expressing to my random traveling friends how our home was open to them, even if I was not around) and what was offered was offered freely and without expectation - an expectation which, in the past, has gotten me into trouble as I surfed on people's couches who didn't have the same view of couch surfing. I make it a point now to clarify what we expect of each other (i.e. access to other parts of the house/appt, $/grocery/cleaning expectations, departure/arrival/noise, etc).

Interests

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- 70 day wilderness canoe trip in Northern Canada
- The drive from Calgary, AB into the Rockies still blows my mind after all these years.
