About Me

CURRENT MISSION

It's simple: staying at home for too long is boring, staying in hotels is even more boring, meeting new people is fun, so that's what I intend to do.

ABOUT ME

I grew up in a small town, I did well in school, and I had enough friends to be happy and entertained. I like to read, I enjoy movies, I play sports when I can, I have been playing guitar for a number of years, I love food, adventure, and I can't wait to start crashing on people's couches. Above all, I have an amazing family and they have helped me become who I am today, and I hope I get the chance to meet a lot of new people that can help me become who I'll be tomorrow. (Even though that last statement is extremely cheezy, I do genuinely mean it).

PHILOSOPHY

I try to live a life having as much fun as possible, but trying not to be too stupid. I feel like I'm a fairly logical person, but not boring. I've been pleasantly surprised when I've left things in my life to chance, and so I'll probably continue to do that until something bad happens.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I intend to offer my couch as often as people need it so that this community can continue to exist.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

There was one experience I had that made me feel like strangers CAN be trusted: I was in Paris, dead tired after an all-nighter, searching for a hostel hardly able to hold my back pack. An old Frenchman invited me to sit at his table as I walked by him at a bar. He bought me a beer and we talked for quite a while. He then invited me to his friends house where I could take a nap, then we could hang out and drink and be merry together. Sounded a little like I was going to get robbed, but against my better judgement, I decided I would go. It turned out to be one of the best experiences of my life.

Interests

Family, friends, food, guitar, nightlife, traveling (obviously), film, books, MUSIC...these lists get tedious, just invite me over and we'll learn all this about each other naturally.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Oh brother, where art thou?, Usual Suspects, Momento, Waking Life, Big Lebowski...
Music: Weezer, Pearl Jam, Rx Bandits, Smashing Pumpkins, Bjork, Flecktones, Mars Volta...
Books: Slaughterhouse 5, Papillon, Cats Cradle, Clockwork Orange, Kitchen Confidentials, A Wrinkle in Time, A People's History of the US...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I recently made a trip to Marocco and was absolutely struck by the hospitality of the strangers I met. They took me into their homes, fed me, showed me around their cities, and treated me with so much respect that I have to admit I am completely changed because of it.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can't claim to be a teacher of anything, but I do love to learn.
