About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Over the mountains, across the sea, who knows what will be waiting for me?

ABOUT ME

I've spent a good deal of my life learning through books. Studying history and especially philosophy. At some point it dawned on me that another theory or thought were not what I was looking for. I took up the traditional practice of meditation taught by different schools of buddhism, aka vipassana meditation, and after fully dedicating myself to it for two years it was time to move on and learn new ways of living and enjoying life.

Right now, I'm irresistibly attracted to mountains, and climbing feels very natural and a worthwhile endeavor.

PHILOSOPHY

"Make hay while the sun shines."

Music, Movies, and Books

'Annapurna' by Maurice Herzog; 'No Shortcuts to the Top' by Ed Viesturs; 'Mastering the Core Teachings of the Buddha' by american meditation teacher Daniel Ingram. I also used to enjoy Ken Wilber's writtings about integral psychology, but it's been a while away now. Aldous Huxleys's Brave New World and The Island are also great.

Some movies I enjoy are: O Cheiro do Ralo, O Auto da Compadecida; The Untouchables; James Bond films (yeah!); Fellini's City of Woman, Amarcord; Ki-duk Kim's Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring..., Breath; Kubrik's classics like Clockwork Orange, 2001 - Space Odissey; Ridley Scot's Blade Runner, 1492: The Conquest of Paradise and Gladiator; Coppola's Apocalypse Now; Woddy Allen films (serveral); The Goodfellas, etc.

Music-wise I enjoy many different styles. Grew up listenning to rock'nd roll music like The Byrds, Crosby, Stills and Nash, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd and so on. As a teenager I would listen mainly to heavy metal music (which I still do sometimes), but nowaday I can say that I just like creative music, regardless of genre. Astor Piazolla, The Duckworth Lewis Method, Jean-Luc Ponty, Royksopp, Carbon-based Lifeforms, Einstürzende Neubauten and so on...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Greatest experience so far is probably just traveling around the world on my own meeting people along the road and sharing some nices moments together. Some other unforgetable moments were: three days practicing sitting and walking meditation non-stop (literally) while on retreat; taking part of a ten-day walking meditation on southern France; trekking to the basecamp of Annapurna in winter; climbing a mountain on my own in Peru.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach:

I can teach meditation according to the theravada buddhist tradition - also known as Vipassana Meditation (the mahasi style of practice); and philosophy; particularly ancient greek and buddhist philosophy.

Share:

Climbing, trekking, running, wondering around in the city. Whatever gets us outdoors and enjoying life.

Learn:

Id love to go on some alpine climbs and learn new sports like skydiving, kayaking...
