ABOUT ME

I was born and raised in East Los Angeles!! This is a huge part of my identity, so I tend to announce this fact. Many people have negative perceptions of my hood and I want them to come visit! I want everyone who's interested to come visit.
I've been working within the public education field in working-class communities of color. I've done educational outreach, including tutoring and mentoring. I'm inspired by youth. Their energy, creativity, innocence, and trouble-free spirits have taught me so much about myself and life. I want to continue to work with youth in a Cultural/Educational Center in Unincorporated East Los Angeles, which doesn't exist yet- I want to help create it! So I must return to school and learn how to do this. I'm currently looking into graduate school programs that can give me the tools I need for this goal.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm ecstatic about people using the internet in this positive way. Just when I was over the internet, I was introduced to Couchsurfing.com and Hospitality Club. This gives me hope- and I haven't even stayed with anyone yet! (soon!)
I recently attended a social event with the Los Angeles County CouchSurfing members. We hung out in a bar in Santa Monica. It made me reminisce on the many fun nights I had in Europe meeting people from all over the world. It also reminded me that there are millions of other awesome people in the world that I'll never have enough time to meet.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't yet stayed on anyone's couch from this site.
However, I've met several CouchSurfers from the Los Angeles CS Group and have had a wonderful experience. Its great to meet others with similar interests and the passion for travel.
