About Me

CURRENT MISSION

We get what, about 75-85 years on this earth...I want my time here to be surprising, challenging, rewarding and fun and I hope to help everyone else find happiness as well

ABOUT ME

I'm generally a very positive and happy person. I love learning and experiencing other cultures. I have as much fun taking the dog for a walk or crawling around on the floor with the cat as I do going out at night. I love just drinking wine and talking. I can be relatively quirky and unpredictable, but hey, it makes being around me a lot more interesting.

PHILOSOPHY

e. e. cummings said it best: The world is mud-luscious and puddle-wonderful

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't gotten a chance to do it yet, but after reading all of the profiles and testimonials, I'd love to try it! I'd like to go to Brazil next spring and travel around a bit-maybe I'll couchsurf a little too....

LOVE.THEM.ALL. Hahahaha...favorite music includes Puccini, Shostakovich, Brahms, Liszt, Albeniz, Scriaben, Verdi, Dvorak, Smetana, Mendelssohn, The Beatles, Elliott Smith, Toto, Flaming Lips, Queen, Guns n Roses, Neil Finn, Damien Rice, The Shins, Ween, Ryan Adams, Wilco,Ok Go, Postal Service, Joni Mitchell, stuff from musicals, Amelie Soundtrack and a whole host of other stuff. For movies I love Annie Hall, Lawrence of Arabia, City of God, Shawshank Redemption, Lost in Translation, Motorcycle Diaries, Rushmore, The 400 Blows and Doctor Zhivago. And I love to read-bookstores are just awesome-I'd recommend any of the following: A Child's Christmas in Wales (breathtaking), War and Peace, Crime and Punishment, Dark Star Safari, The Mosquito Coast, The Old Patagonian Express, Balkan Ghosts, The Brothers Karamazov, In Siberia, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, The Fountainhead, Atlas Shrugged, To Kill a Mockingbird, Arabian Sands, The Kite Runner, Out of Africa, Sea and Sardinia, The House of the Spirits. Any recommendations are appreciated at all times.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hmmmm....I biked all over Bornholm, Denmark with my friends one weekend a couple of years ago. It was deserted and windy and cold and possibly the most amazing time ever spent with friends while wearing the same outfit 3 days in a row and eating nothing but viking bread and apples. I'm not sure that's particularly significant or amazing, but I just love talking about it.

Teach, Learn, Share

Gosh...I love teaching. I teach English in a classroom for Somali and Ethiopian refugees and I'm always happy to help anyone learn it. I know how difficult it is mastering a second language and I give gigantic props to anyone who does it. I play piano and I'm happy to give you free lessons while you are here. Maybe in exchange you can teach me how to cook...:) My mom is always trying to teach me but I haven't been altogether successful.
