About Me

CURRENT MISSION

still working on that (mum says;strive to have as little impact on the earth as possible")

ABOUT ME

Well actually, I'm my mother and myself because I'm 17 at this point and therefore not legal, so we're doing this together, except I'm doing the writing. We also have Leo who's a German exchange student and is staying for year, that's until next June. I (daughter) am just doing my last year at school and then I'm off around the world a bit, Germany and the rest of Europe and cool stuff like that... I've only ever been to Australia and that hardly counts, and mum's only been to Norfolk island which is Australia anyway, so she wants to get around as soon as I leave her alone. Oh, well she was born in England but that doesn't count 'cause she doesn't remember.

PHILOSOPHY

you don't want to get into that, it would take months. Basically, strive to do no harm, general pacifism, love your enemies... minimise impact, take the TOYS from the BOYS, you CAN'T SINK A RAINBOW... etc. We're greenies!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well, we have a spare bed (which tends to be more comfortable than a literal couch) although it is sorta covered in sheet music and unusual instruments most of the time... but if I don't manage to get around to clearing it there's a few couches around that aren't covered in school stuff...and they aren't being used for anything else because sister/ other daughter is at Uni.
Nice location too, the view from the kitchen window is most pleasant when washing dishes, which I normally don't do actually because I'm one of those typical lazy teenagers... we live next to a lovely river with boats and jetties and birdies, and the garden is full of trees and is a very pleasant location for meditating and such occupations.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Just a few visitors so far - and mum seems reluctant to let me go surfin' for some reason...

Interests

daughter: (my name's Megan, btw, Gillie is mother) I like music, I play violin and viola and things, and as I mentioned I love photographing landscapes and birds and other wildlife, I probably enjoy calculus more than is healthy...
mother: she likes to go tramping and wandering in forests, definitely likes gardening more than is healthy, oh no, it probably is healthy actually...

Music, Movies, and Books

Don't really go to movies much... I like to listen to Radio NZ Concert, I have my alarm set to it in the mornings, cause I hate mechanical noises, and it doesn't have ads... I'll read anything, except 7th form's pretty hectic so I don't have much time these days...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

That would have to be the time I spent 4 days walking across Tongiriro, that's a vocano in the central north island... they filmed Mordor there... yeah, that one. It's just volcanic desert as far as the eye can see, all tussock and broken rock and Mt Doooom looming up behind... magic.

Teach, Learn, Share

Well, Gisborne's not exactly a busy place, but if you like surfing ( real surfing, I mean) and beaches with just you and the bunnytails, that's what we're here for. Or maybe just to see the sun first.
