ABOUT ME
I love food, jazz, fashion, philosophy, politics, conversation, intoxication, social responsibility and being irresponsible.
I moved to Medellin in March to live here and learn Spanish for 5-6 months, maybe the rest of my life.. who knows..
Recently gaining an interest in sustainable development projects here in Colombia.. in particular something I'm calling Agro-Tourism (think WOOFing meets eco-tourism and gap year volunteering). Working on a little project with a community near Pasto called San Jose de Alban.. will post more info about that in a few months.
Looking for any one interested in a language exchange, English for Spanish. Maybe hook up for a beer and do an hour in each language??
Also for anyone that loves Medellin and wants to share a favorite spot.
PHILOSOPHY
The more you learn, the more you realize how little you know. Thus we must cherish every opportunity to share in something new.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I was performing a show with a band of musicians who had united, from various cities, to play one night together, at an indoor art festival in Montreal, in January. After our finishing our first song, we noticed that the venue was becoming very smoky and our eyes we're starting to sting... Seconds later, we heard the cry:
"Everyone out, there's a fire!"
We grabbed our instruments and fled the building on to the street, which was completely covered in ice (it was January in Montreal). Everyone was very depressed, as it was their only opportunity to play together, burning.
While we were waiting outside, I grabbed my harmonica and started playing a little blues rif ("I'm a man" by Muddy Waters). Suddenly our saxophonist joined in, and then soon our whole band on various percussion. People started dancing and singing in the street, in the cold, while the fire trucks were still showing up. Incredibly, some firefighters came out and started dancing as well! 30-40 people partied with us on the frozen streets for an hour or more. It was such a triumph of spirit over situation.
