ABOUT ME

I'm just a southern gal making her way in New York City. It's not Sex and the City folks... in some ways it's better, in some ways not so much. I'm loving it but missing my southern BBQ!

I'm your atypical "down to earth" woman, sometimes I'm very outgoing, sometimes very introverted (depending on my mood + my surroundings and of course how much alcohol I've partaken in).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've embraced the love and spirit of the couch surfers I have met. I'm doing my best to spread the gospel of the couch surfing project and to empower like minded people to do the same.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've surfed several places all over the world and even hosted a bit. I'm always happy to meet people passing through the city if I have a chance.

My best CS experience is when I met my now husband in Barcelona! I know, I know, this is NOT a dating site! We weren't looking for love but it found us and more than 7 years together, we're going strong and fully support CS travel!

Interests

I love loafing around watching tv, especially old black + white movies on a rainy day but I also love being adventurous.

Here are just a few of the things I enjoy: horseback riding, camping, kayaking/canoeing/white water rafting, snorkeling, traveling, singing (when I'm alone), spelunking, sailing, snow skiing, amusement parks, reading (good books only), hangin' with my peeps... and much more.

Music, Movies, and Books

There are too many movies to choose. Here is an inkling of my taste: the Thin Man series (of course), Libeled Lady, Michael Clayton, Miss Sloane, While You Were Sleeping, Seems Like Old Times, 9 to 5, Shawshank Redemption, Clue, It's A Wonderful Life, The King's Speech, Mary Poppins, Love Crazy, A Stolen Life, Gaslight, most Christmas movies, and many, many more including loads of documentaries.

Books: I love biographies, fiction, and non-fiction. Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach is one of my favorite books, as well as Gavin de Becker's, The Gift of Fear and Harper Lee's, To Kill a Mockingbird.

Music: I'm all over the place... country, golden oldies, 80's, rag, a little R&B, easy listening, contemporary rock, light rock, etc, etc, etc

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I met a fellow CSer while briefly vacationing in Barcelona and fell in love. Now we are now married.

While this may not seem amazing to some people, I find it is because I almost never traveled to BCN, he almost didn't sign up for CS (had only recently done so and I was the first person that he met) and we had to endure a long distance relationship for 3 years before finally living in the same hemisphere, let alone same city.

We'll see what amazing things lie in the future for us and our travels. :)
