About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To get 'Option B' up and running!! As well as to be able to communicate, preferably over a few drinks, with people from every corner of the globe.
ABOUT ME
In my 30's, outgoing with a love of travel and randomness (i.e new experiences, places, cultures and people). Adopting sustainable living practises and minimising environmental impact is an ongoing goal of mine. I've been travelling solidly since Jan 2005 and still loving it, however have recently moved up to north-western Australia to try and make a dream project, 'Option B' happen with a mate of mine (if I can't actually be on the road myself then the next best thing will be living vicariously through others!!).
'Option B' will be an affordable eco-friendly, sustainable backpackers/hostel/campsite all made out of recycled materials with a focus on green living practises and renewable energy, where we'll endeavour to encourage guests to make the most of the amazing surroundings and (mainly) water based activities on our doorstep here in Exmouth - whilst not forgetting to let their hair down on site and enjoy themselves in a laid-back and welcoming atmosphere.
Almost a decade of backpacking has allowed my mate and I ample experience from which to develop our own approach to what budget tourist accommodation should be. We've been looking for a while now for the ideal setting for 'Option B' and this is it!
Hopefully the flawless weather, fireside drinks, spontaneous concerts, communal feasts, ping-pong battles and whacky innovations (eco-dome dorms, hobbit houses, converted retro caravans and other sustainable structures/accomm-binations, natural energy resources, edible garden beds, permaculture workshops, bicycle powered mobile phone chargers and washing machines, whale watching crows-nests etc.) will hopefully create a unique vibe and one day evolve Option B in to a destination in itself!
It's still early days yet and until we buy land and get it up and running, hosting couchsurfers will have to do to satisfy my travel itch, albeit it vicariously through CS!
I'm an avid sportsman, enjoying; surfing, snowboarding, skateboarding, swimming and basketball. Juggling is also of interest to me (and my finances! When i'm travelling and resources become scarce I've juggled for money on the streets - Czech, Croatia, Denmark, Italy, Holland, Germany, Thailand, Australia).
I really enjoy reading anything I can get my hands on, along with learning foreign languages.
Living out of a van is, in my opinion, the epitome of ultimate travel. Do it on a surfari of an indefinite length of time and you've reached (insert your own term for heaven here).
PHILOSOPHY
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.

I really enjoy reading, learning foreign languages and socialising. Most of my languages have been aquired in bars!
Sustainable living practises should be implemented here, there and everywhere!
Beaches are a fantastic place to while away days, weeks, months, even years. Life's a beach!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Somebody proving the below statement is true and can sustain one on a long hike in the back-country of the Tirolean Alps.
Teach, Learn, Share
If need be, yellow snow still technically provides sustenance.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Earnest and honest conversations from an open mind and a seasoned perspective. Plus drinks and a quality home cooked meal! Not to mention a clean bed, shower and local knowledge of how to best enjoy the Ningaloo Reef.
