About Me

CURRENT MISSION

keep learning and having fun!

ABOUT ME

All about me??? that's quite a lot to fit in a box like this... but I would say I am a passionate, curious, lover of life. Music food, wine, parties, the wild variety of wonderful characters on this earth are the things that make me happy!

At the moment I spend most of my time travelling about with my band 'the barons of tang (www.thebaronsoftang.com) which is huge amounts of fun, its so wonderful to play music and travel the world!
I also run a contemporary chamber music group called 'quiver' (world's apart in style) and a little avant-gypsy-jazz group 'mamushka'... so that keeps me busy!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I couchsurfed all over europe and canada in 2006. it was an incredible and unique experience which I was so lucky to have. Now I host people in my big share house in Melbourne which has been very entertaining!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Random acts of couchsurfing kindness never cease to amaze me - like the time me and my friends ran out of petrol up north in New Zealand. We asked this burly looking fisherman if we could borrow some boat fuel for the van, and he turned out to be the most amazingly nice guy - gave us the fuel, syphoned it into the tank for us, and offered us a place to crash at his family house in Whangarei. We met some of his mates on the way back (and helped him pick up the rest of his crew who were stranded round at the next beach to avoid fisheries fines, or something...), and met all the family. They even took us on an excursion to a beautiful surf beach the next morning.

Music, Movies, and Books

Films? The cook the thief his wife and her lover, quite possibly the most ridiculous film ever made. Highly recommended!! And delicatessen, because it features a musical saw. . . . . Music? Too much to list! generally experimental music, interesting approaches to jazz and 'world' music, contemporary classical and a lot of trad folk music from around the world. I play in a 'gypsy death core' band if that's any indication!.... And books?...I love a good, addictive novel....The classics (anna karenina!) But I think one of my favorite books of all times id Le petit prince, because I reminds you to stay a child, at least a little bit.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Playing a tour with my band in New Zealand! we were met with so much generosity! After playing at THE best pub in the world (the mussel inn) we went adventuring down to an amazingly beautiful sand duney beach to discover a group of baby seals playing in the shallows! we watched them for hours before having to finally say goodbye.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm happy to teach anyone whatever they think I may have to offer... music stuff, recipes? I am usually just interested to learn whatever my new friends are passionate about!
